yeah but not a known fault via dealerships if that makes sense. not like they are on the mk2 where nearly every car has a issue sometime in its life

i think people are getting the common problem with the mk2 mixed up with the mk1. its not a known common fault on the mk1

dampers and springs all the way. tbh the sachs gas struts as standard are of great quality

Probs need part number 02M311549D. I took my box out myself and dropped it into a gearbox repairer. got it back about 1 hour later. Its not a hard job to do if your handy with spanners
