Good plan. Should have date printed on the boxes. One of mine was a faulty wire and when you wiggled it the reading on vagcom fluctuated between sensible numbers and off the charts. The other was pooped though.

They look like this.
The black and brown box sits on top of the engine, should be easy to find. The sensor goes into the manifold one on each side.
Open or short to plus means wire and/or the sensor has had it.
Note it's a good idea to change the MAF as it has been found that a failing MAF...

Laminx is awesome stuff, the only downside is the price. Quality though.
Sounds like its going into limp mode where it restricts power to protect the engine due to a fault. Connect up vagcom to find out what's wrong with it.
I think it was on the weight of the whole thing, then they look up the car and see how much of it is precious metal. And based on value and costs the will give you a price. It's worth a bit of haggling too.
Yes they really are useless on all Leons. And the symptoms you describe sound normal.
Search for HID kit. There's a guide in the Leon section somewhere.
+1. What's the chances of a set of these coming up again in the next 6 months. Even if they do it won't be as cheap. Exhaust you can get anytime.
