    Knocking suspension

My Exeo is gone now, but about the last MOT advisory before I PX'd her was for "Play in steering rack bush" or something like that.

    Early morning Paris run.

Yes and no. The car was a Merc 450, the sound is apparently overdubbed from a Ferarri 275GTB. Theres a 'Making of' video kicking about somewhere on YouTube

what did you and your mk3 leon do today

Yesterday, I fitted a Chinese cheapo LED strip in the boot (but not yet wired in as I couldnt find any scotchlocks in my toolkit and being under virus lockdown etc). I fitted a pair of similar ones in my old Exeo ST and they were brilliant (literally and figuratively) Today I fitted the dashcam...

New Fr 184 DSG owner. Slow or just me?

My previous car was an Exeo 168 with a TDUK box on so I reckon hovering around the 200bhp mark - it was bloody quick. The Leon TDI184 doesnt feel anything like as lively but OTOH it is a 4x4 version and has the DSG which I assume has blunted the performance further so a remap or another tuning...

what did you and your mk3 leon do today

I've had protected no claims for a number of years now. Helped somewhat when I demolished next doors visitor's Fiesta that they parked overhanging my driveway by 18". I seem to have bad luck when it comes to accidents with Fords in general. Got the Leon back from the bodyshop this morning...

what did you and your mk3 leon do today

Took it into the bodyshop to get the front bumper repaired/resprayed. :( Last Thursday in the piddling rain someone reversed into it in the company car park after their reversing sensors failed. At least they admitted fault so I ought to get my excess back.

what did you and your mk3 leon do today

I had a TDUK box on my previous Exeo 170 which was bloody brilliant but I've decided to give the Leon a go as standard until my insurance renews later this year before thinking of a map or another box. Mods planned so far are all practical or cosmetic : Fire extinguisher in the boot, dog guard...

what did you and your mk3 leon do today

Only got my Leon last month, no mods as yet but one repair - sticking the rear reversing sensors back into the bumper.

    Auto wipers

Don't knock a valver until you've tried it! Back in the late 90's I was looking at 2nd hand Pug 205 & 309 GTis and realised the 16valve version of the 205/309 engine was in the BX. I got 160 normally aspirated horses in a four door hatchback with a huge boot that weighed slightly more than a...

    Auto wipers

Mines the ST-Lux model and theres a rain sensor stuck to the windscreen up behind the mirror shroud. Mine wasnt plugged in properly when I first got the car (secondhand), once it was it tends to override the intermittent wipe, though usually to wipe more frequently not less. Might be worth...

    Flip key programming

There are several methods shown online to manually program a key which involve things like opening & closing the doors whilst standing on your head and whistling the William Tell Overture, I tried a couple which didnt work and I had to resort to a *cough* EBay special version of VAG Com. Try...

    tyre choice

I'm running CrossClimate's too, havent done much milage on them but so far I've no complaints over grip, ride or noise. Costco often do an offer on them though this time Blackcircles managed to go even better.

    Exeo values

Unless you are desperate for money to make the ransom demand on your firstborn child, or pay off that loan to Big Harry before he reposseses your kneecaps, WBAC should to be avoided at all costs. Not only do they lowball you on initial price, when you turn up with the car their staff will do...

    Exeo v A4 sound system

Based on my previous experience with VAG sound systems (53 plate Leon, 03 plate Golf IV) the stock speakers aren't bad but the standard HUs are a bit crap. I replaced the HU on my Leon and Golf using a cheap £150 Pioneer and heard a huge increase in sound quality. I've yet to replace the HU in...

    Wheel Inspiration Needed

I got some Audi Artis wheels off ebay for a song, threw away the fitted Teflon Hedgefinders, had the wheels refurbed and fitted 205x16 Michelin crossclimates. Ride a lot smoother and in general easier to drive, the original 225x18s tended to find every dip in the road and head into it so...

    highest mileage

2009 ST 170 Lux, TDI Tuning box to 200+ (upto 220 depending on settings), 78,000 miles or so. Gotta keep it until the gearbox de-whines itself...

    Wheel Inspiration Needed

I've actually downsized from 18" to 16", I wanted more ride comfort and cheaper tyres (I use mine for work so expect to do a lot of mileage) Plus she now looks even more of a sleeper [B)]

    Knocking suspension

I've also got an annoying rattle at low speeds from the nearside front which I can't find. Been through two MOTs, a suspension re-alignment and a gearbox in/out still havent figured out whats causing it.

    Panel filter recommendations?

I agree with what the others have posted. I did some Internet research when I got my Exeo including checking the various Audi forums, and nobody seems too regard the air filter as needing an upgrade.

    Gearbox failure

The 6speed manual gearbox in my Exeo suddenly failed at 81000 miles. Took it into an independant specialist who called me today with an update. 6th gear has stripped most of its teeth, because a bearing was missing - he says it looks like it was never fitted from the factory. I'm not sure if I...
