sounds like the previous owner hasnt looked after it to well. in the time ive had mine ive had to replace 2 coilpacks and thats it. great cars :)

if its using coolant i'd say head gasket. ive had my 1.6 for 2 years now and never had to put coolant in it. is it like heavy weight knocking or more like ticking?

how much blue smoke is it? mine puffs out a bit of blue smoke on peak load, only noticable on a rolling road though. and just checking, you havent over filled it with oil?
