They properly dint clear the air box/pipe and intercooler pipes and inter cooler out correctly when the fitted the turbo causing debris to hit the turbo a blew the new one
Or it's scored the engines bore and you get metal from there going through the exhaust ports
But they should have checked...
Check where the selector cables attach to on top of the gearbox, there an aluminium arm(shifter) check see if its not become loose eg up and down movement
On mine it kept working its self loose and made gear selection difficult
And seen as you Sid the box as been off recently they could...
You symptoms would point me towards the two aluminium pipes that run top Roth hand end of the engine in lot the bulk head they had a sort of a weird clamp that ass o rings that perish over time and the leak runs down the bulk head felt lining so it hard to detect the leak
Look at this thread...
I've had the same problems with mine same as you discribe
I changed the coolant temp sensor to start with was an improvement but not fully cured it
Then I need to replace the battery anyway later on in the year and that sorted it out not had the problem once in the last six

White smoke can also be unburnt oil enter the exhaust system which then get vaporised in the exhaust turning it white with a slight blue tinge
Could have over speedeD the turbo when the boost pipe blow off and splitting the oil seal
Check your boost pipe see how much oil
Toyos are good but a little too soft IMO and wear out a little too quick
Thinking going to try uniroyals next prices are a few quid difference on camskill.co.uk
If its the kit I think it is it replaces top pipes that run from egr to top on inter cooler
And replaces one lower pipe from bottom of inter cooler to the straight aluminium pipe thaT runs at the side of the engine
