Cant say for defo but sounds similar to my issue - the drivers door control unit or wiring to it sounds like its damaged.
when the control unit was not "talking" to the rest of the car, the central console to adjust mirrors, lock/unlock the car from inside etc stopped working.
If you have a...
two things I would try (having been in a similar situation over the last few months
1) make sure the jump leads are good (nice thick wire) and have good contact on both sides
- I found that when the leads are not connected properly, the battery took longer to get enough grunt behind it to turn...
Just as a follow up to anyone else who has a similar issue, I swapped out the control unit with a second hand one from a scrap yard (Note I kept my original window motor and just swapped out the control unit!), put everything back together and recoded the unit to match what I think I have and so...
So I finally had the door card off and checked the part number - 1K0 959 793 H, so time to start shopping...
Meanwhile my battery keeps draining - to the extent where the windows wont go up as the motor is drawing more then the battery can supply!
I'm not sure if this is being caused by the...
Hi AlteaXL thanks for the info - Since the battery went flat, i've lost use of all of the drivers door controls, AND the internal lock/unlock. Remote lock/unlock still works for the passenger doors! Now im not sure if its the drivers door control unit or something else! as the car seems to think...
Hi all, Just to follow up,
1) I figured out from reading numerous threads that the process was to lock the car using the internal switch from the passengers side, then use the yellow manual lock to lock the passengers door - this worked fine but now the internal switch is no longer functioning...
Hi all,
I have a 2005 Seat Altea, 2.0 tdi sport. Use to be driven daily up to this time last year, and then even less once uk lockdown hit... Mainly sits in the drive now so condensation / cold may be playing a factor...
Over the last day + night the alarm in the car randomly goes off, nothing...
So not done after all.
Couldn't get into 2nd,4th and 6th today on way home... took air box off again and had another look... this is what i found.
What a ballache,
So is it easy to change? The car now wont go into any gear, so is stranded on my drive...
Can i change on the...
Done - the greasing seems to have resolved a squeak i had while changing gears, and time will tell re getting it into 2nd and 4th. Easy job once the airbox is out, the clip for the air intake pipe was a b***h as i pushed it down too far and then didnt have any tools to get it back on. Tip for...
I saw a video on that yesterday, first problem I had was getting the cover off the gear stick. Eventually got that, and wiggled gear stick around, can hear it rubbing and squeeky. I've greased it up and see how I get on. Will look to see if I reset links today. Mine is a 6 speed, need to see...
I have a 55 plate altea 2.0 TDI, and today the car isnt going into gears 2 and 4 properly when shifting down without a good shove.
The "top" gears 1,3,5 and Reverse are fine, but just 2 and 4 are playing up.
If i pull away, it goes in ok, though feels like it doesnt go all the way home. On...
Evening all,
I'm after a part number for part that holds the front indicator lamp in the light cluster. Everywhere seems to sell the full unit, but I just need the holder of anyone has it or can give me a part number?
I've double checked oil, plenty in the sump (according to dip stick)...
Now i did accidentally leave the oil filler cap off earlier when i was having a proper look, and there was a fair amount of air pushing out from the filler port... Is this normal or is this signs of air coming in from the...
Good Morning,
I've had a Seat Altea 2.0TDI Sport (BKD engine) for approx 8 years, done regular 6 month oil/filter changes/5000k which ever comes first for the first 6 years, and last two years done oil changes yearly, there is 120k on the clock.
Other background: -
car is using a lot of...
Finally had a chance to look and investigate.
Got my dad to start the car while i looked, noticed the alternator pully move on startup.
Tensioner seemed ok.
Used a listening rod (long solid screwdriver) while engine was running and could hear a not so smooth spinning alternator.
Bought a...
Cheers, think the belt is approx £17, so may as well try and change that, more concerned as to how easy it is to get the tensioner out - looks like its easy to unbolt, but a pig to get out with the spaghetti of pipes in front... something for the weekend i think.
Good Morning,
Over the last two days ive gained a squeak in the engine bay, which is only present with rpm is low (sub 800). Engine is the BKD 2.0 tdi bkd.
I suspect its something that is on the front belt - with the alternator but not been able to narrow down much more from there. The...
PS - i tried to map the boost request/actual but the laptop couldn't handle the graphing software so will need to install vcds on a newer laptop and try again. Do i need to do the recording while driving or can i do it stationary?
