Absolutely no issue with a generic map if you know it's decent map. You're actually safer with a generic than a dodgy custom map if the guy doesn't know what he'd doing. But for some reason the generics like Revo and APR are more expensive now than a custom job. So the best is still using an...

Creations Motorsport TIP fouling gearbox cables

Yeah I thought the general rule was that there isn't the room to fit an oversize TIP to the KO3 and only a silicone version of the original would do.

what have you done to your car today ?

The heat from the turbo through the bonnet has got to point where we're now down to bare metal. I'm keeping an eye out for a second hand replacement, but they're like hen's teeth at the moment. So I've got literally nothing to lose by rattle canning it and sticking some Zircoflex on the...

what have you done to your car today ?

A lady scraped her massive Porsche along the front right corner of the parked Leon a week ago. Luckily her husband owns a body shop, so they sorted it all out. Result a week later is an entirely repainted front bumper. Was only expecting them to do a smart repair on the corner, but chuffed all...

    Door lock issue front passenger

You can get this if you install the door lock with one of the levers in the wrong position. I forget which one. Terrified me because it half locked when I was installing mine, but I moved the lever to the right position to be able to unlock it.

    Dreaded over heating

Check the fan comes on when the AC is on. The problem is usually the resistor in the fan pack going and back in the day people installed workarounds because the fan packs were expensive. But less so nowadays with aftermarket ones, so you're best just sticking a new fan pack in. Means bumper off...

what have you done to your car today ?

To be fair I've had to refit the pollen filter three times before and only the third time stopped the leaking and I have no idea why! That clamp definitely looks wonky

what have you done to your car today ?

Tried my new Ryobi torch to have a check over the engine. PCV system is covered in oil 😞 Mostly around the plastic 90 degree elbow, so I'll probably change it for a metal one and refit all the silicone hoses all over again. And no i can't be arsed with a catch can 🙂

Just a heads up that this might work on a Passat but it didn't work for me.

    Head unit dimmer wire

Duh! Turn out the dashboard light dimmer switch lowers the voltage on the head unit (suppose it makes sense now I think the original Aura unit was dimmable).
