Hi, with the help of Speed-FReek I thought I understood the Service Indicator. Up to today it worked well, the decrease of the mileage to the next service and the days until next service corresponded to the time/mileage of the last service, so all good. Today it changed to 17000 miles and 651...
I got my 2.0 CR back from workshop two weeks ago after fitting a new vacuum boost control valve to the turbo. All going well...better than before until today :
Approaching traffic lights at 30mph, 900rpm no load, the MIL came on (the amber flashing glowplug). Anyway VCDS shows :
001027 - EGR...

speed FReak, just wanted to say thanks again. Your explanation is spot on and shows up all the others that thought somehow the "sensor" was doing some chemical analysis ! When infact it's a very simple algorithm.
Mine is now notching over exactly 100 mile increments from when it was serviced...
Speed- FReek, thank you for that explanation. In all the years I've enquired this is the only one I've understood ! Thank again and the data helped further in the understanding. Can't understand the "Thermal load" being in km though. Out of interest how does it determine "good quality oil". Or...
I wonder if anyone has mastered the complexities of the Service Indicator when set for variable / Longlife oil etc ? Is a 2009 140 BHP CR TDI. I know there is a sensor for "Oil Condition" (Had various explainations on how this works...for instance Optical sensor to see how black the oil is or...
Surely something will be effected otherwise the details of the recall would be simple, it sounds like it's a bit more than just removing the software otherwise they would already know what they need to do. My guess is if they are going to reduce Oxides of Nitrogen they'll be playing around with...
Thanks for the info, that's a shame (that mine might already have G052171A2 in it) because I was hoping that it might cure my notchy 1 to 2 gear change !....but if same spec & viscosity etc then maybe not
The thing re the spec changing "recently" was something I read in the TDIClub forum.
Paul
Dopedpanda, did you get your G052171A2 from a Dealer ?........does it say on the bottle the Viscosity of 70W-75 ? ............does anyone know when the spec for 6 speed boxes changed to G052171A2 (& got thinner ?) as I think stock in my "09" speed box is the "old" spec
Paul
Spud, which have you used ?....Genuine or Fuchs ?..................who makes the "Genuine" stuff ? ....When I went to local dealer the guy looked up spec on the "Comma" Oil website ...is that an indication who makes it ????
Paul
Was this for VW G052 171 A2 ???? that's a lot less than I've just been quoted from local VW. You don't know who makes the VW stuff do you ? Don't suppose the bottle mentions the Viscosity ? (Having said that I'm guessing where you are you do not have many cold days effecting 1>2 Gear...
Thanks Guys, think that maybe my requirements are not so extreme as Muddys in Winter........even in a bad winter I think I can count number of tricky snow days on two hands only. So with that in mind I don't want to keep changing wheels (unless of course I can get a deal like Muddy). Funny I...
Muddy, what are you running this winter ? have you thought re "All Seasons" ? http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2014-All-Season-Tyre-Test.htm reckons that they are not the compromise they once were especially for UK climate. I'm after 225/45 x 17 and nearly went for Winters Oct 2013 but...
Hi, anyone any updates on what they are doing this year, anyone got any "All Seasons" recommendations (in 225/45 x 17) ? My understanding is that "All Seasons" are getting better and the compromise (in comparison with a Winter Tyre in Winter and a Summer Tyre in Summer is becoming less of a...

Well VW have finally come back with correct Spec G052 171 A2 but still can not tell me what Viscosity that relates to ....which surprises me and also therefore the Viscosity of the oil that is stock in my gearbox (to enable me to pick a lower viscosity)................the Spec does say this is...
That's how this started, VW Parts Specialists, VW Dealers could not tell me so eventually I contacted VW Technical Team..............who as above gave me a completely wrong spec...not related to Gearbox Oil. Anyway as well as contacting Fuchs I've recontacted VW.
Fuch's don't do a 70W-75...
