Good start :)
Nice to see some older model cars being worked on.
If you find you're looking for any upgrades I am breaking my Ibiza which has a load of things available to purchase :)
Took the car to Silverstone GP this weekend, had a fantastic time after sorting out tyre pressures and doing some unintentional 360s to start with!
Had some work cut out with some of the cars pictured below. The car held it's own though and brakes were awesome, not a single hint of fade all day...
I haven't updated in a while and I'd like to report by saying I'm having a great time in the car and getting plenty of track time. Ultimately I'm not, there's really nothing wrong with the car but I simply don't use it. I wanted to dedicate this year/ next to track time but due to holiday...
I'm not too bothered by the carbon option, it's an expensive item and the car is really being built as more functional than form now. No gringade yet ;)
It is a great sound and yes I love the feeling I did it all.
Yeah it's epic!
Cheers :) I don't have any major plans for power or anything but I'm toying with some kind of wide body as said in a couple of posts ago... need to be careful though, it could end in tears and look gash.
It's a real breath of fresh air after driving the daily 306 around...
Fresh MOT and tax for the car today, shot this fairly low quality video but you can get the idea of the box noise. :)
Tried on my other shoes too, they really bring out the Brembo's nicely
I have now insured the car for the road.
Something that has taken my fancy, is the GT3 style/ race look. A few reasons really:
1. Some rust is re-appearing in the rear arch
2. The rear looks lost compared to the front
3. Potential handling/ larger wheels (easier to find pre owned slicks for)...
The general feedback I got from RobbieC was that he wished he'd just bought APs instead of HiSpecs. Another mate bought a set for his Capri and was very disappointed, they look nice but I'm not convinced from the opinions I've heard. What's stopping you going AP?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using...
Just bare in mind that the ICR discs get very hot on track, they're a weak point. I had to then spend stupid money on discs in order to *hopefully* resolve this. If I were to do it again I would bite the bullet and buy AP.
JOMs are hard! Just as a warning and you'll probably be bumped off your seat. Think they're OK for what they are though, just keep on top of lubing the adjusters otherwise you might find one day it won't move.
I think all the pistons are different sizes too, the IBR runs the same pistons as the LCR which make the braking force the same. Probably why they're so good TBH.
Heavy day at the unit today, first nice day so tome for a clean!
You can see the tailpipe adapter I made to silence the car on static noise tests!
Can sort of see the new bells
Chuck in a couple of these too, mates Capri coming along nicely:
Had the car running for a good half...
Cheers :)
I'm happy it's inspirational for others, I nearly sold about a year ago... then decided it was too far to turn back. Let me know if you fancy a track session together. As for the sump I believe it's a BDM one made by Alex, he now does these via AKS Tuning :)
Thanks Jay, I'm...
Finally got my disks back after they were redesigned due to a incorrect offset. Calipers bolted in place, pads installed to check fitment:
P.MU look nice with the red :)
Still ringing around to get some insurance quotes but I think in May I will have it on the road.
