Just need some advice - middle box on my exhaust is split along the seam and blowing. It's the seam along the side of the silencer. Absolutely nothing else wrong with it. I'm going to try putting a weld along it but suspect the mild steel too thin for that and likely to melt straight through...
By the sounds of it all VAG calipers aren't very robust. It's been a problem for years but i honestly thought they'd have sorted it out by now.
I've rebuilt one side and it's back on the car. But on the nearside the bleed valve took some of the thread from the caliper with it when it came out...
So recently noticed a bit of binding on the rear calipers. A closer inspection revealed the piston boot has come unseated and obviously there is a bit of winter moisture ingress, So started stripping the calipers off the car and can't even get the bleed nipple undone. Bit of penetrating fluid...
Can you hear it trying to unlock? Same thing happened to my front passenger door. It's the actuator that's seized. You can buy a new lock mechanism or do what i did which is drill a tiny hole through the platic casing at the top of the lock mechanism and spray pentrating oil in there. Leave it...
Guess what problem is back. Looks like the same issue again..... Although it did happen in monsoon rains sunday on the A11 so i think it might have overwhelmed the ventilation intake completely and come over the top rather than leaked under it. When i took it apart yesterday the box wouldn't...
Same has happened to mine. THe part you've bought providing it's for a passenger door should do the trick. That's the part that fails. Be careful getting your door cards out. They are a bugger and even worse to get back on.
Yep this a common issue on mk1s. Had the same on my 2003 cupra.
Different problem on mk2s.
Having said that I used some of the same roll of the door membrane seal I had left over from doing the doors on my mk1 to fix the leak coming under the ventilation system inlet under the scuttle on my...
Hi mate,
Actually I was going to come and do an update this week. I think I've found the issue.
Ripped the scuttle apart completely last week. Wiper motors out, everything else too. Basically there are two panels bolted onto the bulkhead. One either side. One is the inlet for the ventilation...
Features
I've checked under the scuttle for blockages. Going to have another more thorough look round the ventilation inlet for blockages or possible entry points. Have had a good look after and during washing with the hose for leaks around doors windows. Couldn't see anything. I wonder...
Hi Guys,
Has anyone experienced the above?
Basically i'm pretty certain that this isn't caused by door membranes. I think it's coming through the ventilation system. The reasons being -
1. Sides of the carpet are not wet and doors show no sign of leakage.
2. During the summer months when it...
Hi mate. Not yet. Although I haven't really driven in much heavy rain. It has leaked a little in the lighter rain I've driven in but it's mainly dry.
I am about to pull the carpets out and drive it without them in for a while until I figure out where it's leaking from. I've a hunch it may be...
Oh ok Is that what this is for? I've always done it with a jack underneath. If that's what it's for then not to worry. I thought it was for removal of the tensioner. I'll crack on without. :)
