    No 5 Door on Configurator

It seems you can configure a 5 door by going to the international SEAT site and navigating to the UK section from there. I guess it is a glitch on the SEAT UK site.

    No 5 Door on Configurator

I just tried to use the configurator on the SEAT site to build a Mii but there doesn't appear to be an option to choose any 5 door versions. I don't know if this an error in the configurator or if SEAT have stopped making the 5 door models. They still appear in the brochure and price list...

    fr tdi exhaust help

Yes it is good quality mild steel. The outer skin on my back box corroded and split badly a couple of years ago but the inner skin is still intact at the moment. It will need replacing shortly, though. My car is nearly 10 years old.

Fuel gauge going mad - FR TDI

My fuel gauge has been the same as yours for a couple of years. I have learned to live with it now and try to keep a track of how much fuel should be in the tank. I always carry a can of diesel in the boot now in case I get caught out. I think it is down to poor soldered joints in the dials and...

    Exhaust Heatshield Loose

When it happened to mine it was just the clips which had rusted away. I bought some new ones from the local Skoda garage for 45p each and pressed them back over the pegs on the underside of the car. They are about the size of a 2p piece, so if the hole hasn't enlarged in the heat shield they...

    Rust

Definitely a result. Nice one. It is good to know that there is some reason to use main dealer servicing. Unfortunately, I stopped using mine about 18 months ago, after about 7 years, and that gave them the excuse not to do it. I am watching the rust spreading now. It's quite fascinating.

Lights - buzzer or auto off when key removed?

I thought that if you remove the key with the lights on the warning buzzer should sound? If not it might be the first sign of the micro switch in the door lock playing up.

    Rust

I finally heard from Robinsons today, after chasing them up yesterday. As expected, SEAT won't contribute towards the cost. They say that the rust has occurred from the outside in (I don't believe that) and the damage would have to be covered by the paintwork warranty which is only three years...

    Rust

Somebody on another forum sent me the pdf, so I don't know if it is exactly the same but it sounds like a very similar problem. It seems that the wheel arch liner is pressed against the wing and wears away the paint, allowing corrosion to take place. I suppose you should be able to see if that...

This pdf shows the similar problem on the Mk 4 Golf and details the action required to solve it: http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/rust_wing/2009Nov9CorrosionToGolkMk5FrontWing.pdf

Help. Boost or intercooler pipe popped off?

Update. The RAC guy has been to fix it. As suspected, it was the connector at the bottom of the intercooler. He cleaned the groove for the clip thoroughly with brake cleaner and it seems to be well connected at the moment. At least I know where to look if it happens again. He gained access to it...

Help. Boost or intercooler pipe popped off?

Thanks for the advice. I will have a quick look in the morning to see if there is anything obvious. If not I will see if the RAC will come out and have a look.

Help. Boost or intercooler pipe popped off?

Thanks Cactusjack, that is very helpful. I had my cam belt changed a few days ago. Could they have disturbed the connections doing that? Also does it help access to the intercooler if I remove the fog light trim? I have done it before but I can't remember how I did it.

Help. Boost or intercooler pipe popped off?

I was accelerating along a dual carriageway tonight when there was a pop, followed by lots of smoke and a loss of power with the engine surging. I managed to limp home via the back roads and the car is parked at home now. I suspect that it is the common problem of a boost or intercooler pipe...

    Rust

I took my car in to Robinsons this morning. The Warranty guy spent quite a long time taking photographs of the licence plates, VIN plate, and then the rusted area. He took paint thickness readings of the bubbles and the surrounding area and then took photos of his hand taking the readings with...

    Rust

My drivers side front arch is badly rusted. I phoned up my dealers a few minutes ago and have an appointment with the Warranty specialist who is visiting tomorrow. I don't hold out much hope but I will see what they have to say.

    Anyone replaced a front wing?

£141.18 is the price for a brand new wing, ready painted. Imperial was the first company I found but I see that there are many others, some cheaper. I don't know which is the best. The main problem I can see is that my red car is lacquered to prevent the paint fading. I don't know if the new...

    Anyone replaced a front wing?

Thanks, that sounds a lot less daunting than I was expecting. I don't know if it is covered in the Haynes manual. I will have to check when I get home.

    Anyone replaced a front wing?

The front wheel arches on my car have corroded to the extent that they will have holes in them before too long. A quick bit of searching reveals that I can get replacement front wings, ready painted and delivered for £141.18 from Imperial Crash Repair Parts. Has anybody replaced their front...

    When to change timing belt?

I had mine changed today at my local MOT centre, who have always done a good job for me at a fair price. They charged £366 for the cam belt, water pump and an annual service, which didn't sound too bad to me. Unfortunately, they also pointed out the corroded exhaust, front tyres which are near...
