  1. How old are we Cupra owners?

Been a while since I've been on here but since I picked up a monsoon grey Cupra 290 (66 plate) a few weeks ago, here I am. 37 now. First car at 18 was an R reg Arosa 1.0. Had 12 cars since (all SEAT) but I'll never forget that Arosa.
  2. Ibiza 1.4 SE - a terrible car?

Just traded my mk4 Ibiza cupra TDI in for a mk5 60 plate 1.4 goodstuff (based on the SE). Sure, it can't pull the skin off a rice pudding but I knew that when I bought it. Priorities change, and I no longer require the power, nor want to incurr the insurance costs. What I have is a well specced...
  3. Mk4 Ibiza Cupra TDi owners stand up and be counted!!!

I currently have an Ibiza Cupra TDI on a 57 plate in black. Sold my Leon Cupra TSI for it, as I wanted something a bit cheaper to run. Bought her last year with only one previous owner, full Seat service history and to date, she's been bullet proof. I'm having the cambelt and waterpump...
  4. 1.2S - big thumbs up!

Heheh - if my circumstances changed, and I needed an economical supermini then yes, I would happily have one! I do like the look of the 3 door, but noticed that the inside handle on the door is quite close to the hinge, so its a tad awkward to open... Incidently, I had a test drive...
  5. 1.2S - big thumbs up!

My Leon mk2 Cupra was in for service on Tuesday and I was given a mk5 Ibiza 1.2S (AC) as a courtesy car. I had the car all day and was very impressed. Pros -Excellent throttle response -Easy to get up to 70mph -Handled and gripped well considering it's a basic car with steelies...
  6. how many std cupra's

Bog standard cupra here. Have several cravings for mods every day but the mortgage and equal cravings for holidays has so far ruled them out...
  7. Whats the differences between the 1.4 SE 5dr and the 1.4 cupra

Not convinced it's FSI. Isn't it just what was the 75bhp unit with 10 more hp? Anyway, it's like comparing chalk and cheese, since the cupra is the flagship model. Same when it comes to price - you could get an SE for around £10k whereas the cupra is at least £16k.
  8. Grip in snow

Ditto - drove from Durham to Newcastle last night on minor roads (as the A1 was chocka) and barely used the brakes. I've been pleasantly surprised by the cupra (leon) in the snow...despite my front tyres being low on tread. I think fairly good feedback and a good throttle response/easy...
  9. Are all 1.6 Sports under performing?

That was Ncl to York on a quiet day, not using the cruise but rather feathering the throttle and being overtaken by trucks.....it's not what I bought the car for but then the motorways aren't exactly designed for driver enjoyment either...
  10. Are all 1.6 Sports under performing?

37 is probs about right for the 1.6 unless it's on a run. I get 28mpg from my cupra door to door and up to 37 on a run (driving at 65mph which is painful on the motorway). Doesnt the cold weather have an adverse effect on mpg?
  11. Best place to buy sportlines?

I notice the sportlines are 50mm front and 35mm rear. Once fitted, does that not result in a weird stance? Forgive my ignorance here it's just that some of the other options involve 35mm/35mm etc. Also @ Damian, I work in Ncl - do you also offer fitting of these products? Best, Andy
  12. New FR TDi - Opinions

I had the 140 for a while - it was quite noisy. Hopefully, the CR engine in the new FR should have remedied this. I haven't driven the face lift one but reviews suggest that the engine is quieter and the ride is more forgiving. The "old" one was back breaking... As for the leather, I think...
  13. New CUPRA R officially confirmed

Well, the mk1 leon Cupra R started life as a mk4 Golf and that turned out ok...SEAT probably deserved a medal for working wonders with that dog of a chassis...
  14. New CUPRA R officially confirmed

Realistically, it's going to be at least 1-2k more (the old Cupra R was 2.5k more than the Cupra) and for that you'd get the extra 25bhp, bigger brakes, wheels... I wonder if the leather seats are standard? They look nice...but then again I suppose they are an option on the Cupra.
  15. New CUPRA R officially confirmed

Indeed... Price? Besides, it has that electronic LSD, bigger brakes and wheels. Is it possible it will have a different suspension setup? Anyway, I do think price is all important - if it's not that much dearer than the current Cupra then it may represent good value...
  16. New CUPRA R officially confirmed

No, I don't dislike it in principle. Maybe I'm getting old, but I'd prefer a car that's more understated. I do agree that SEAT should have tried harder but its price tag will probably reflect that. I'm sure when the mk4 Ibiza came out, people slagged it off for not being a mk3 then the same...
  17. New SEAT Leon CUPRA R to debut at Frankfurt Motorshow

I can remember speculating the return of the Cupra R in the "other" forum some time ago only to be told that it would never happen. It's nice to be vindicated... Anyway, still like the shape of the mk2 but my god, they could have gone a bit further than just sticking on two "R" badges and...
  18. Intresting review of the new Ibiza Cupra on Pistonheads.

Yeah, the picture probably doesn't do it justice. There are better ones around...I think the quilted cloth seats look good actually....there's no accounting for taste though!
  19. Intresting review of the new Ibiza Cupra on Pistonheads.

Yes, I had the misfortune of reading these. Some of the comments are ridiculous...saying that the interior looks dated etc If it wasn't for the DSG box, I suspect that SEAT would be onto a winner...most reviews of the mk5 when it came out were positive but said that the chassis could take far...
  20. Ibiza SC SE - The first two weeks

I think the throttle response doesnt help with this on the 1.4 - I've driven a few in various forms of tune (100 bhp, 75 bhp etc) and you dont get the instant response that you get in the 1.2 3 cylinder say. I dont think it's a problem though... Glad you like it - if I ever cant afford to run...
