Also, if possible, try to get one that hasn't had the emissions fix software update - there's a whole Face Book group dedicated to people who've had this fix done and claim to have had significant problems as a result.
I have an intermittent fault displayed on the dash telling me that the reverse lights / rear fog lots have a fault but only when the boot is open. My assumption is that one or more of the wires in the wiring loom has broken where it flexes as goes from the main car body into the boot lid. Is...
Hi, driving to work on Friday I noticed an unusual sound of "swishing" water when I turned left or right, so I had a look in the plenum between the two bulkhead and guess what I found ... yep, water! So I promptly drained all the water out using a turkey baster (?!) and had a good look around...
My rear parking sensors have developed a fault where they sound constantly if they are activated in rain or after it has been raining. I am thinking it will probably just be easier, and cheaper, to buy a set of 4 new sensors from TPS and change them over rather than taking the car to someone for...
I know what you're saying: when I first test drove an Exeo I noticed how short the first gear was when compared to the Toyota Avensis that I was driving at the time (and also how wide the spacing on the gate was). I think they changed the gear ratios sometime in 2011 but unfortunately it wasn't...
I decided to change my oil today having bought the correct oil, filter and filter socket. Silly me thought it would be straight forward, having carried out oil changes on my previous cars, but no ... 30 mins later I was still trying to remove the shield / under-tray. Does anybody know just how...
Just found some other threads about similar issues on other VW forums - it appears that quite a lot of owners have noted a lag on the drive-by-wire accelerator and reported the feeling of nearly stalling on pulling away as a consequece. They mention a "pedal box" as a way of fixing this -...
Don't worry too much about being able to feel the car roll a little when you depress the throttle pedal - it's due to the longitudinal layout of the engine. As for the other vibrations under acceleration this is quite common and is thought to be caused by a number of things all contributing to...
Following on from an earlier thread asking whether anyone has had their emissions fixed, I was wondering whether anybody has had their fix reversed? And if so, what were your reasons and did the reverse deliver what you had expected?
You can't really hear mine but you can usually smell it and "feel" it - strangely I find the engine feels and responds better while the DPF is regenerating (apparently it's got something to do with the EGR system closing off while the DPF regenerates).
VW reckon they've "fixed" 2/3 of all the affected cars, so that's a lot of cars. I also understand that they are updating the software by default when they service vehicles, so again, that's a lot of vehicles and I'd imagine that also includes quite a few people on here - so I'm just surprised...
Hi, looking around the internet you would think that all EA189 engines that have had the "service action" software update are ticking timebombs, waiting to fail, yet I find very few references to it on this site. Is this because other sites and forums are exaggerating things and blowing them out...
Have you had the "fix" done? Unfortunately from what I've read on the VW Diesel Emissions Scandal Forum on Facebook, it sounds a lot like the symptoms associated with the new software. If you have had the software "fixed", Google the VW Emissions helpline and have a word with them - apparently...
Had my 60K service done today and was told that I had a "recall" outstanding on the car (ie. The emissions fix). Spoke to the tech guy at the dealership and was reassured enough to let them perform the fix on my car. So how is it? Driving home all seemed OK (drive included 20 mile motorway...
