Following on from an earlier thread asking whether anyone has had their emissions fixed, I was wondering whether anybody has had their fix reversed? And if so, what were your reasons and did the reverse deliver what you had expected?

You can't really hear mine but you can usually smell it and "feel" it - strangely I find the engine feels and responds better while the DPF is regenerating (apparently it's got something to do with the EGR system closing off while the DPF regenerates).

It's probably best to keep it that way even though VW are adamant that the update does not cause any problems.

VW reckon they've "fixed" 2/3 of all the affected cars, so that's a lot of cars. I also understand that they are updating the software by default when they service vehicles, so again, that's a lot of vehicles and I'd imagine that also includes quite a few people on here - so I'm just surprised...

Hi, looking around the internet you would think that all EA189 engines that have had the "service action" software update are ticking timebombs, waiting to fail, yet I find very few references to it on this site. Is this because other sites and forums are exaggerating things and blowing them out...

Have you had the "service action" carried out? There are reports increased regenerations and uneven idling after the new software has been installed.

Have you had the "fix" done? Unfortunately from what I've read on the VW Diesel Emissions Scandal Forum on Facebook, it sounds a lot like the symptoms associated with the new software. If you have had the software "fixed", Google the VW Emissions helpline and have a word with them - apparently...
