I think air con may be a separate issue as doesnt it have its own engine driven pump?. I have compared the effect of air con on both my leons and found a definite reduction in mpg on both models of around 4-5%. I wonder what keeping your but toasty warm in winter might do to your mpg:)

Thanks Guys, well accepting the fact that the theory is correct and all this electrical gear efects mpg, if you drove round with all the electrical items on what reduction in mpg would you expect? If this is old news then has anyone ever put a figure on it. Cheers

well according to a recent article in the daily telegraph the use of electrical devices in modern cars puts extra load on the alternator and as the engine has to work harder the mpg goes down. Heated seats (popular choice on the new leon) were cited as the worst culprit. Cant see it myself...

Compared my mpg computer to the mpg worked out between fill ups over the last few thousand miles. Result is computer shows average of 47.5 mpg, average based on fills is 44 mpg. I checked the computer when I first got the car and it seemed spot on, 36k down the line and its now reading 8%...

Rumour has it the ECU is intellient and adapts to your driving style. Obviously it got the message that you like to 'kick ass'! Perhaps ecu learning is why remapped engines take time to develop full power? I have never understood why diesel engines should get better with mileage though but...

My Cupra 150 tickover is 900 rpm which is normal, any less and its stalls. I assume its a diesel thing with the high compresion ratio.

I had a detachable Brink fitted two years ago by towequipe in nuneaton for £299. thats with single electrics. Very nice towbar better than the VAG part. they fitted it while I waited, took over 2 hours though as I recall.
