I did wonder if that may be the case. The oil & filter was changed with service in April and is black and I always check the level. What should it smell like?
I left in running to see if the temp would go down and I always leave it for a minute or two anyway plus I was on the phone.
Thanks for...
But to 230? It never used to get that high. Only started since I had the half moon gasket on the side of the engine replaced. Would that effect anything?
I have accepted that maybe 220 degrees fahrenheit may not be to high after all, however on my morning run to work (25 minutes journey) A roads and town roads. The temp gently fluctuated between 210 and 220, once I parked in the car park for 3-4 minutes the temp gradually rose to 232 degrees...
Yea fans kick in every so often, engine sits at 90c just oil goes up to 104c and when stopped and parked up for 5 mins with the engine on it dosent seem to go down.
Around 200 but goes up to 220+ in slow moving traffic. The dash outside temp says it's 24 degrees. It's definitely not and there is not much heat coming out of the fans on high.

Could it be that I overfilled my coolant tank by quite a bit. Doesn't that have something to do with cooling the oil?
