  1. New Wheels. Downgrade?

The 18s you had on did look better, but it's also because they were black. They don't look 18 either, especially compared to Cupra-R alloys, for example. If you got the 17" Cupra alloys finished in black, and lowered the car slightly, they would look better than those other 18s imo, and...
  2. Fitting a pd engine and gearbox into a non pd (asv) car

Having a GTB1756VK would be ideal, but it means more fabrication... A second hand GT1749VB would increase power, but it would need a new map to work properly.
  3. Fitting a pd engine and gearbox into a non pd (asv) car

John, if you're a bit slow to catch on, that was a reference to the old thread where you insisted a PD150 turbo would not go beyond 200 BHP, and I proved you wrong ;)
  4. Fitting a pd engine and gearbox into a non pd (asv) car

Hi there, The "B" just denotes a model number, you're thinking too deeply into it, lol i.e.: GT1749V for 110 BHP GT1749VA for 130 BHP GT1749VB for 150 BHP The VB is bigger and better than the V, of course, and has titanium blades which the VA does not, but the point is that if...
  5. Which braided hoses for the 312mm/256mm brake conversion?

Ok I will research it some more myself. Where do you get 82% for the fronts from? After extensive research, I read at tdiclub.com that VAG MK4 TDIs are set-up as fixed 70/30 ratio bias to the fronts.
  6. Which braided hoses for the 312mm/256mm brake conversion?

Is that for the SEAT Ibiza? A VAG specialist told me all my brake lines are braided as standard on Leon 110 SX TDI, thus refusing work from me in upgrading to Goodridge/HEL, and why would the front be rubber and the rear braided when the fronts are getting 70% of the brake load? Could you...
  7. Best place for a clutch and fly ?

Definately NEVER get Techniclutch, only newbies wet behind the ears get caught out with that one....they often break and you'll lose money 99% of the time. Do a search here for "Techniclutch" and you will find out
  8. Best place for a clutch and fly ?

Speak to RyanP at www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk in Barnsley about American Southbend clutches - great pedal feel and can hold loads of torque.
  9. Which braided hoses for the 312mm/256mm brake conversion?

I have a 2004 Leon 110 TDI ASV and the hoses are rubber on the outside but braided on the inside - people at tdiclub.com have cut them open on 90 BHP model TDIs and the inside has been braided, so I firmly believe that all Leon brake lines are braided as standard.
  10. Which braided hoses for the 312mm/256mm brake conversion?

Your standard hoses are already braided, so unless they're damaged there's no need to change them ;)
  11. Fitting a pd engine and gearbox into a non pd (asv) car

Hi aymen, Where did you get the idea that a VNT15 is only good for 150 BHP (not off "john_tdi" surely! ....just pulling your leg John, lol  ) Things have moved on a bit since those old ideas and hybrids, etc. VNT17s are 10 year+ old technology - the 3rd gen. GTBs are where it's at...
  12. Fitting a pd engine and gearbox into a non pd (asv) car

Well this is a right old mish mash of a thread, lol To answer the original question, there's no way it's worth it to even attempt swapping a PD engine in, what with a replacement PD car being cheap anyway. I also don't get why you're paranoid about breaking your Leon, as your engine is...
  13. 110 130 or 150 Diesel.

110 SE comes out as higher insurance than 110 SX (it did for me anyway).
  14. Cupra r 225 or fr tdi 150???

...and you can sell a diesel for more, so this point is moot.
  15. Cupra r 225 or fr tdi 150???

Diesels cost more to buy, but you can sell them for more too. They can be quietened down and made smoother by using Shell Power diesel. Petrols cost a lot to run, especially LCRs, and get attention when you rev them. Diesels can be tuned to have huge amounts of torque (let's go beyond...
  16. squeaky brakes

I have squeal at low speeds with Ferodo DS Performance pads (i.e. not even DS2500s!), and am wondering how long anti-squeal paste is supposed to last, because I had the pads changed to the uprated ones from OEM about 6 months ago, and don't remember the brakes squealing so much as they are now...
  17. Upgraded Sidemount Intercooler

Vented fender liners definately work and another way how to make one is drill loads of holes to make one ;)
  18. Stage 1 help

Hi there, The 0.216 nozzles you're talking about are Bosch T4 Transporter nozzles, and that's the 'old fashioned' and rough 'n' ready way to increase nozzle size, because the spray pattern is much better with the Bosio nozzles. Ask "Seatmann" on here about his Bosio PP764 nozzles, which I...
  19. Stage 1 help

It depends how far you want to go eventually, as power increases are addictive and MOST people want more soon..! If ALL you want is 150BHP, then get Bosio PP764 nozzles and remap/tune to suit. The nozzles are originally from Italy, and are available from some UK & European distributors, and...
