I have temporay fix for a squeeking rattling nightmare panoramic sunroof. Open it full then clean all the edges and mating seal surfaces with soapy water. Using a cloth apply silicone oil to all the cleaned surfaces. Silicone oil unlike mineral oil doesn't cause swelling and deterioration of...
I gave up faffing around with Sat Nav map downloads for my 2019 Ibiza with the 6PO system. Instead I purchased a new 2024 maps SD card from an eBay seller called "XL Navigation Card Specialists" for £20. It works perfectly and I wish I had just done this in the first place, just swap the SD...
I gave up faffing around with map downloads on my 2019 Leon ST with the 6PO system. I bought a 2024 maps update SD card from an eBay UK seller called "XL Navigation Cards Specialist" for £20. It works perfectly, I wish I had done this in the first place. It is a maps only update not a system...
Have a look at this. The author has had his 205k miles 1.4 Tsi MK3 Leon inlet shell blasted I believe several times. First blasting at 100k miles with images and description of the symptoms and improvement :
The stop start will stop working when the battery ages and will not hold full charge. The stop start on our 2020 Ibiza has not worked for over a year as we just get the "A" symbol with a line through it. As I understand it when the charge level falls below 80% the stop start will not kick in...
The gearbox oil level is checked on the level by removing the fill bolt then filling with oil until it overflows through the same bolt hole. Gearbox oil typically is 80/90 viscosity which is much thicker (viscous) than engine oil and can be easily identified. I have never found the fill bolt on...
It sounds more like a defective flywheel oil seal. I had it on a manual Renault Scenic it leaked engine oil from the engine/gearbox union and drove like an automatic with rising and falling revs as there was oil on the clutch plates.
I tried to remove a front wheel on my 19 Mk 3 today. It would not come off after the bolts were removed it was stuck solid. In the end I hammered a screwdriver down the single slot gap at the back of the alloy wheel and it came off with a crack. I greased the hub centre before refitting the...
I have done this as well. The best way to get the cover back on is to lift the chunky rubber seal and push the plastic cover back in horizontally under the seal towards the window side then locate the plastic feet. If I remember correctly the feet fit in metal clips which must be located...
The MOT guy did this to me as well. The car would not disengage the transmission at a standstill. Just lift UP the AH (hill hold) button behind the handbrake button until it lights up red.
I have found an excellent YT video showing the replacement of a tsi cambelt on a petrol car with Active Cylinder Control (ACT) which is the system which allows the engine to run on 2 cylinders only when not under load (I know you all know this). To change the cambelt on a 1.4 or 1.5 tsi EVO with...
13k miles and three and a half years old still running fine. I have seen 65 mpg come up on a long journey mainly at 50 mph through M27 smart motorway roadworks very happy with it !
I picked the bonnet liner up with the car so I can't say whether it makes any difference to the running temp or not. I would guess it makes no difference in the UK as the car runs pretty cool anyway. The oil temp seems to run few degrees cooler than my Leon 1.5tsi
I have based my understanding of this problem on YT video "TSI misfires explained" by Diagnose Dan. For me the best bit is the explanation of the six fuel injector profiles and how they change to give the different combustion cycles including cold startup.
He does however go down the carbon...
I fitted one of these a while back. I did a post with price and pn if I remember correctly. I got it from SEAT parts. At the time it was the only one showing on the UK parts system. I mainly wanted one to combat the steamy water vapour rising off the bonnet when you park up in the rain. I can't...
