From what I gather, if the small fan fails, the large fan will come on all the time and fast. I think there's a controller in the small fan. Are both fans on all the time?

Did you check the slow speed fans are working?

It did it briefly this morning, but I sat with engine running for a few minutes before switching off. The fans came on for about 10secs then went off.

Thanks. This was only after about 10miles of normal driving. I'm going to speak to the garage today and see what they think too. Before even after a good a thrashing I've never noticed this when getting out the car.
