I really don't see what your issue is, its an emergency spare, rated to 40mph. an 8% difference in circumference isn't going to be great for the handling, but its easily capable of being compensated by the suspension unless you're caning it, which you shouldn't be with the spare on. Literally...

If it works the same as the golf/a3 you can't set it below 30, but provided its set below 30 (and youv'e got the dsg) it'll stop & start the car in traffic.

why are you expecting to hear the turbo? I can't hear the (significantly larger) one on my 2.0 TDI. as others have said it is pretty damn small by turbo standards, and it will be spun up pretty quickly down the rev range (very close to idle) so any lag will probably be disquised by the gear...
