My HIDs also failed the MOT this year but were OK the last two years. They must be starting to clamp down on it now.

I bought the shim but when I went to do the job I found out that the gearbox was sealed and didn't have the plastic cover to remove. It was all one metal housing. My car is a 03 lcr. I may have a shim kit for sale now lol!

Have you tried replacing the plastic ball housing/bearing at the base of the gearstick? I forget the part no. now but a quick search would get it.

Anyone had this done recently? Any MPG figures to compare etc?

Ah yes, I've just checked that thread out, looks promising. That is the kind of thing I'm after. I've noticed that people have had fun and games trying to get some wheels to fit over the brembos. I hear the TT ones fit over without the need for spacers. I don't particularly want to run spacers...

I'd be up for this too. Been there twice with my old 106 rallye 16V S2. Good fun, just have to watch out for the nutters on the track.
