SEAT PORTABLE SYSTEM [GARMIN] Skins & Hacking

I guess I'm very late to the party and some of the key people may have moved on now (@Pher, @robomrburns) but can anyone point me to the relevant tools and documentation for modding the Garmin PID software? I have a Citigo and would like to have a bash at customising the gauges to show speed...

CUPRA 300 - Standard Colour Changes

Check the paint codes. It might just be a new name for the colour for marketing purposes. My Skoda is Brilliant Silver. My Golf was Reflex Silver. They both have the same paint code.

    Would you buy another?

Yes, but only a rattle-free 3-year old car that could be looked after by an independent VAG specialist. Annoying trim and suspension rattles and inept SEAT dealer network drove me to BMW. Such a shame because the 1.8TSI with DSG is superb and the Mk3 Leon is roomy, comfortable and incredible...

Greetings all! My Mk3 and previous rides

Yep, off the top of my head certain models from Skoda, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover ... ... and SEAT. It's a £160 option on the Ateca Xcellence and part of the £330 winter pack on other Ateca models.

    Rain sensors

Did the previous owner(s) have the windscreen replaced? On some cars the light/rain sensors need recalibrating when a new windscreen is fitted.

    Delivery mileage

Ask if they can they keep the protection film on the car and PDI it at the branch where you are collecting from. Don't hand over any payment until you have had chance to inspect the car fully.

Tech Pack auto dimming rear view mirror - disable?

I found it very effective on our Golf Mk5 with just tinted glass all round, less so on the Leon and BMW with privacy glass.

    Goodbye Leon

Sounds like a similar situation to ours. After almost 7 years of ownership of a Golf Mk5 we were very excited at the prospect of taking delivery of a new Leon FR 1.8 TSI. For various reasons the Leon ownership was a bit of a let down and after 30 months and 16K miles we decided a change of car...

    Stop start system

A one way valve in the line near the washer pump would help but you will have to remove the wheel arch liner to get to it.

    Wiper blades help

24" Bosch is close enough, no issues with forward vision when it's hammering it down. Having said that, Valeo are an OEM supplier and are the preferred after-market blade for many BMW owners, usually a few pennies cheaper than Bosch as well.

    Bought A Leon FR

I could be wrong but I thought that the 7-speed had a very long drain interval, if not "sealed for life" The 6-speed has wet clutches and therefore the oil is probably susceptible to contamination and would need regular changes.

    Roof damage - tree branch

I suspect that the the roof skin is stretched too much for panel beating/PDR and a new roof skin will need to be bonded on. With the roof skin off the PDR guy might be able to get into the C pillar and pop the dents out there.

    Correct MPG??

Round trip or one-way. One way uphill will kill fuel consumption, as will a full complement of passengers and luggage, air-conditioning use. Tyre fitters are the last people that I would trust to correctly inflate tyres to the correct pressure. Check your new tyre pressures with a decent...

I had this occasionally. Seemed to happen when a Ford Focus was in front of me.

Double Checking - DSG Gearbox and Service

Which DSG? 7 speed dry clutch or 6 speed wet clutch? I'm not sure the 7 speed dry clutch DSG has a specific service interval.

Cupra 280 - What oil should I use?

VAG recommended Castrol oils for many years and I have used Castrol Edge without issues in 3 VAG cars since 2007. BMW also used to recommend Castrol oils but I believe that they are now factory filling engines with (and recommending) Shell oils. I had a BMW MINI R50 that had a history of...
