  1. turbo gone after owning the car for 2 and a half weeks

I had a golf 140 remapped and the clutch kept slipping under hard acceleration. Got shot of it because the head was going at 36k miles! Your turbo shouldn't be an issue but if you are worried about it ask them to reflash your ecu to standard. I have a 170cr now and it's not as quick by the way!
  2. Seat Branding gone haywire

That's the deal I was referring to where you get the reference sport plus aero kit for £16,995. Obviously I don't think the standard car is a patch on the sportier models. I know what you say about all talk but for circa £400 you get get it re-mapped to about 180bhp which puts it on a par at...
  3. Seat Branding gone haywire

Is it just me or has Seat lost the plot. I think that the referance sport offered at the moment is a far better looking car than the FR or Cupra for that matter. Would any other marque offer a car lower down the range looking better than its range toppers?
  4. FR 170 TDI Remap

The guy that did mine, who works independantly I think, says he gets around 210-215 bhp from the diesel and 260bhp for the new FR petrol! Sounds pretty awesome! I have the last generation petrol FR which is about 210bhp after he remapped it and it fairly flies. He's based in Cumbria.
  5. Settle for an FR with this deal???

I've heard you can get a Fiesta ST150 for £11,150 from www.buymynewcar.co.uk saving around £2500. I saw the piece in CAR magazine so I don't know anything about the company.
  6. Settle for an FR with this deal???

I bought an FR and am pleased with it. As said above you can easily re-map an FR to getting onto R power, with the benefit of a new motor and 3 years warranty. Take it for a spin and see what you think, it will probably be plenty fast anyway after the civic!
  7. The LCR is going, to be replaced by......

I had a 172 Clio and loved it to bits. Had it two years and it didn't miss a beat. I think quality issues are overplayed on French stuff. Their are probably plenty of people who have conflicting opinions mind you! I would have kept mine but as said above I needed more space and the Leon provides...
  8. Leon FR owners

I've an FR 20vt. With '17' inch R esque wheels.
  9. Leon Price slashed, FR and R

Up here in the sticks it's pretty hard to come by one! I think there's one at Carlisle, so may have to have a run out one day. My only complaint with car re-mapped is that I wish it was four wheel drive, would be really awesome then. You have to be at nearly fifty before wheels stop spinning!
  10. Leon Price slashed, FR and R

I live in Cumbria and there's a guy here who re-maps lots of high end cars (Range Rover Sports, Bentleys etc), but my mate sells wagons which he does too. I got it done for £350 cash. I think the software is based upon superchips but he has a guy in Denmark who sends him software. It's pretty...
  11. Leon Price slashed, FR and R

I love my petrol don't get me wrong (also had it re-mapped!) but at the price the diesel is now and with that re-mapped I think it would be an awesome deal. Also 0% was a limited deal nation wide, ended end of June or July I think. You could either have that or £1000 off list I think.
  12. Leon Price slashed, FR and R

I would have definately bought the TDI at that money. Only reason I bought the petrol was because of the 0% and price difference.
  13. Leon Price slashed, FR and R

There are a whole host of offers including £2000 off an Ibiza cupra (1.8t). Applies through January.
  14. Leon Price slashed, FR and R

Has anyone seen the Seat website lately, prices for FR tdi now £13,700 and R £15,500. Knocked £2,500 off each of them. Have to say I'm more than a bit cheesed off with that as they have devalued all of our cars instantly. I have had mine for nearly six months now but am interested to hear if...
  15. R.I.P. Richard Burns (Merged)

The thing I liked about him was he had a real 'everyman' quality. He lived his life how most of us would, if in his position. I remember seeing him interviewed once and the reporter asked him why, like the majority of rally and F1 drivers, he didn't live in Monaco. He said he'd rather pay the...
  16. My LCR 225 Test Drive Verdict

I was going to have a go in a civic before buying my petrol FR but when I asked the sales man what king of deal I could expect he said "I wouldn't even throw a set of mats in"! Needless to say I didn't even bother to test it!
  17. Chipped LCR and 330ci

Well said Mike. The fact is that most people here bought Leons' because they were good value for what they are. I did anyway. I have had a couple of big Volvos recently and when they go wrong, similar to BMs', they aint cheap. I decided to get the Leon 'cos its backed up by a three year...
  18. Trade in my 2004 LCR???

I would step out of the sun as it must have affected your judgement! I agree if you want something frugal look at the FR TDI as it looks the business and is economical. The Toledo is unspeakably ugly.
  19. Superguard or Autoglym Protect

I had my Almera GTI supaguarded and have to confess I don't think it made much difference. I can't speak for Armaguard though.
  20. Insuring an Ibiza FR 1.8T

I think you're lucky. I was told by Norwich Union Direct that no one onder 21 would be allowed to drive my car (Leon FR petrol) as too much of an insurance risk. Didn't bother me as only me (28) and my parents as occasional drivers.
