    Cupra/fr engine reliability issues

I don't have a Seat any more but my 10 plate S3 had an engine replacement after only 2900 miles (totally stock). Apparently the exhaust camshaft adjuster bolt sheared. I've been asking Audi to give me photo's and a copy of the technical report, but it seems they are unable or unwilling to do so...

Where in wales are you from / Local Area Meets

Had it 4 1/2 years now, never kept a car this long! Just fancy a change... new S3 being delivered mid to late June ;) I'll try selling it private closer to the time, failing that, JP Board have offered just over top book for it as they know the cars history (and has a few mods). BTW, I'm...

    buying a cupra r ?

I've had my LCR from new, will be 4 years old this year. The only thing I've had to replace is the coolant bottle (sensor was shot, and is part of the bottle), which was less than a tenner. I've read all about the 'common' faults, coil packs, MAF's, door leaks and so on... but touch wood...

    FR or Cupra

Don't make the same mistake as I did with the Mk1... I bought the 20VT FR, but it was the Cupra R that I really wanted... only six months later, I had Cupra R on my driveway :funk: Trouble is, I don't feel I can part with it now... it'll 4 years old this year, never kept a car this long! lol

what mpg does a 1.8t return with mixed driving

I previously had a 20VT FR which seemed to average around 26mpg... maybe it would have done a bit more once it was run in  Didn't keep it long enough to find out. I part ex'd it for my LCR which averaged around 28mpg when new, which surprised me a little... same roads, same driving...

    Run flat

Not sure, possibly had the wrong tyres fitted by the previous owner  I know he had both the back tyres done even though only one was wrecked as he wanted to keep the treads even.

    Run flat

One of the guys at work now has standard Michelin tyres on the back of his M3... the only thing that drew his attention to the fact he had a puncture was the smoke coming from the tyre after he parked up in the works car park... the tread had started coming away from the sidewall. Had to get a...

    Run flat

In theory it's possible, but not recommended. Run-flat tyres should be mounted on EH2+ rims, which has an extended hump. This extended hump keeps the beads in place, so that they don’t slip into the well of the tyre. By doing this, the run-flat tyre continues to provide adequate steering...

    Tyre Questions

yes, first number is width in mm, second number is the height of the sidewall, which is a percentage of the width, last number is obviously the inside diameter in inches. :)

    Tyre Questions

225/45 is approved for a 7 1/2J rim. 235/40 and 245/40 are approved for 8 1/2J rims. They will fit, but there will be no stretch as they are wider.

    Stripped Out Leon

No idea how much weight you'd save by stripping it out... the biggest weight savings would be the uprights of the rear seats - the double size one is about the same as the spare wheel & tyre from what I can remember... I would guess with all plastics, door cards, trims, carpets, rear seats...

    Stripped Out Leon

Not quite what you were after, but it's the best I have :p This was my old FR... was fitting the black interior trim / head lining / Recaro's from an 'R' Gave up building a LCR 'look-a-like' and bought the real thing instead (kept the Recaro's though, obviously!) :)

Piper or Blueflame... Milltek don't do a downpipe for the LCR, and the APR one is mega bucks!

    1st gear speed

Depends on the gear ratio... can you be more specific? What car is it? Power / torque will have no effect on 1st gear top speed, the speed is limited by the gear ratio... only difference is, more power / torque will get you there quicker.
