The wiring loom runs down the left hand side of the car and around the rear wheelarch where you can access it fairly easily.
The colour of the wire is not the same as the one in the hatch.
You need to remove the rear bench seat, the lower C pillar trim and the boot side trim.

If the switch is the same as the Altea one, it could just be bad contacts.

Sometimes the door lock mechanism dries out and just needs greasing, the noise gets amplified by the B pillar. Use the spray grease, white lithium based.
I think there's a post on here somewhere about it but I can't find it at the mo.
