Hi there

Was wondering what quantity of oil is normal for putting into the 1.4 TSI engine as i've had to put 2 litres in the space of 6 weeks, driving 1500 miles

Would appreciate people's comments

Thanks
Dale

Well Seat say using a litre every 600 miles is acceptable. So sounds like yours is normal according to them. May be worth getting a test done and if your lucky they may try and resolve it for you.

Iv being told they carnt do any thing because I didn't buy from a seat dealer.
I checked it about a month after I bought it, a mate warned me. I just check it every couple of weeks and top it up accordingly now.

Mines goes in next monday for its second service. Along with that the oil consumption will be checked from then. They will weigh it then get me to drive some miles then re weigh it then if its excessive according to them, they will do the rings etc..

Yup always carry a 1litre bottle in the boot just in case, although my consumption is not as bad as other ones.

Does the Seat not have a check oil light come on?

Nope, mate of mine with an FRs ran totally dry(unsure how long for, but it was an after he checked/put oil in that it blew up quiet literally) with no warning what-so-ever

Take it back they will say drive 5600 miles and bring it back.

Then they will change the engine :)

Hey Dale, at that rate, it does just sound in SEATS limits- but there limits are appaling. Get it checked out, do a quick search on here and print out the many people that have had the same issue.

My oil consumpstion has been much better than seats minimum.

Hope you get it sorted mate.
