1.4 TSI Twincharger forged rods for stage 2?

Hello,

I have a 1.4 TSI Twincharger (it's a VW scirocco, but whatever), currently running:

• revo stage 1;
• CAI;
• S3 intercooler;
• some modified exhaust from the previous owner;
• decat;
• forged wossner pistons;

Forged rods are not really mentioned for 1.4 TSI engine, or rods in general really, only uprated / forged pistons.

Question is, do I need forged rods to reliably make power if I go stage 2 or I can keep the stock ones? Does anyone have any experience with stage 2 / tuning in general for this engine?

Personally, if my engine was in pieces getting forged pistons fitted, for the extra outlay I'd do the rods as well. Not sure specifically on the Ibiza, but you read the sticky tuning guides? Might be info in there that will help you.

I have. No mention of rods there. wossner forged rods cost 900€ iirc, they've told me that by email .Not really rushing buying it considering there's no mentioning of rods failing anywhere on the internet for this ebgine even tho I agree that this would be the best time to do so
