Not too far away
My 1.4ACT is just approaching 5 years old and I am having the timing belt replaced.

If I understand what I have read correctly the water pump on these engines is driven by a separate belt from the exhaust camshaft at the opposite end of the engine.

Does this mean that it should be fine to just change the timing belt as it won't have to be interfered with when the water pump needs doing at a later date?

I have the 1.4tsi non ACT. Done my timing belt at the start of the year and the dealer confirmed that the water pump did not need done as it is at the opposite side of the engine.
