I want to drop a 1.8T in my Fabia vRS but I want it to be a lot quicker than my 240bhp diesel engine or it isn't worth it in my eyes. Ideally I'm looking for upwards of 350bhp, the closer to 400bhp the better...

My mate is selling a standard AGU engine with a GT28 for £1,000.

I'm completely new to 1.8T's though and don't know where to go from here. What would I need for 400bhp? When building an engine, do you just aim for 400bhp or do you do all the internals so they're capable of handling a lot more to be safe?

The manifold he's using is **** apparently so I'd need a new manifold.

I'm going to buy the engine and then build it over the next few weeks/months then just drop it in and have the wiring done.

You will need complete new internals for that power... also another turbo, I don't think the GT28 will hold 400hp safely.
And... you will need A LOT of patience while the bigger turbo builds boost and delivers some torque... nothing like the TDI.

rods.. if th rest of the motor is in good order it should be fine...
forget the 400bhp with the turbo you have tho.. low to mid 300's more realistic
