Has anyone had a similar scenario to this...
I started the car, drove about 50 metres, pulled out onto the road (letting the revs drop a bit) and it cut out. It felt like i'd stalled it but when i went to re start it, the car just cranked and wouldn't fire.

I've left it where it is for now as the RAC said they would be 4 hours, as i had a 9 month old baby and a 3 year old in the car i made other arrangements in getting them home.

Blocked DPF filter or failed fuel pump? no lights on the dash.

Thought i'd give an update incase anyone has a siminlar issue.

I had the car taken to my house where i had a look.
there was no 'priming' from electric lift pump in the tank so i ran a lead staright to pump so it would run all the time and the car ran. I took wire off and car ran fine again and started ok each time.

I checked out the fuel pump relays and all was ok feed and power contacts in car. So i assumed it was a relay issue. VW have a new part no for the relays and they are different which was suspect. I replaced the fuel pump relay and others of the same type if the old types could be iffy.
Car ran fine for 12 months then on my way to work i had a bit of wheelspin going up a damp hill and a bit of juddering then the car cut out again.
Same symptons, no power to electric lift pump. there was nono power to the relay. Fuses checked and all ok.

This time i took it straight to a VW specialist garage that was recomemded, they confirmed this. They said they had seen it before and its likely and bad joint or a broken wire. Taking the loom apart wasn't feasible so a new fused wire was run straight to the battery. It's been faultless since.
