2005 Ibiza 1.4 Sport Mk4

Been registered on here a while now, and had the odd post here and there but mainly just reading through the guides etc!

Anyways, this is the thread for my Ibiza 1.4 Sport which I've now owned around 15 months.

I'd owned a 2000 1.2 Punto previously, which I'd had a number of months before I turned 17 (my mum needed something to run about in while hers was off the road!). I'd always wanted an Ibiza however, and 3 weeks after passing my test not long after I turned 17, I went for this one!

There are a couple of minor paintwork issues, and a small dent on the bootlid, as well as a couple of scuffs on the passenger side of the dashboard, but other than that it's in pretty good condition, and the price was more than reasonable I thought.

The first thing I did was change the Alana head unit to my Sony one which I'd had in the Punto previously, and also wire in the amp and sub with some help from a mate of mine which took longer than anticipated!

I've then had the car as standard for many months before deciding I wanted a change!

So, this is what I've done so far (since deciding to start making some changes 48 hours ago!):

  • 70% tint on the rear three windows
  • Rear lights changed to Cupra style
  • Fitted a new tailgate plastic trim as mine was battered!

I will also have on the way very shortly a chrome surround for the gear knob, as well as a chrome grille surround.

The realistic further changes I'd like to make:
  • Refurb the 16" alloys already on the car, black/anthracite
  • Chrome vent surrounds
  • Badge the bootlid as per the facelift, but with black lettering
  • Paint the side bump strips to either match the car, or the wheels
  • Paint the wing mirrors to match the wheels/bump strips
  • HID headlight kit
  • Tint the side repeaters
  • Change the plastic inserts on the front bumper to the "honeycomb" style
  • Have two dents removed on the nearside front wing, looks like a shopping trolley is responsible!
  • Paintwork to repair the scuff on the offside rear wing/bumper, pulling off my (very tight squeeze!) drive

The list of stuff I'd absolutely love to do is to my car is stupidly long, and I really don't have the money so we'll leave those bits out!

Pictures from a few days ago after giving the car a fairly decent clean:

Anyone have any recommendations for alloy wheel refurbishment in the Yorkshire area at reasonable cost?

Looking for them shot blasted and powder coated ideally.

Any pictures of the polo rear wiper change? And of the LCR splitter for that matter, but I'm sure there's a guide for it so I'm off to search for it lol! Is the C2 aerial a fairly easy swap?

theres a nut that you take off the rear wiper then just pull and it should come off. there is a guide for the splitter but i can tell you how i did mine if you can't find it. the aerial is easy too, just give yours a good pull and it should come off, but people have trouble getting theres off because its an anit-thieft aerial. after you've taken it off then just screw the new one in

iv got a picture in my readers ride thread of the new wiper

Will certainly be seeing about the aerial and rear wiper! I think the aerial will be first one to change as it's the cheapest, and then see where I end up going with the splitter and wiper after that!

Got myself one of those ordered! Cheers for link mate! Will post up pictures of the change in the next few days when it arrives, tempted to take the aerial off fairly soon as I don't use the tuner too much and I'm too eager! :p

Paint currently being mixed in Luna Grey to paint the side strips!

EDIT:

The aerial, chrome gear surround and chrome grille have all also arrived!

Couple of minor marks on the gear surround but not too bad, it'll do for now lol, and the chrome grille should look fantastic polished up!

Pics later hopefully!

Fitted the C2 aerial today, looks fantastic, well worth a fiver.

Also fitted the chrome grille surround, again well worth the money IMHO.

The chrome gear knob surrounds had an all black gear knob with them, whereas my original gear knob has the silver painted ring around it which I quite like, so I swapped the inserts around on each gear knob and gaitor, fairly straight forward job.

Touched up a few areas of paint here and there, still obviously no where near perfect and I will have some professional paintwork done in the future, but I think it's an improvement, especially on the drivers side door sill.

Was running out of time today when it came to finishing the side strips, so it was a rush job and it's far from perfect. They're not back on the car yet, and I'm undecided whether to leave as is or go for it again.

I have pics taken, but I'm not on my home PC so the upload will have to wait I'm afraid!

Not happy with the finish on these though, think I'm going to be doing this again!

Not a good picture, but gives you an idea of the new gear knob surround:

Also fixed the drivers side door alignment today, it now closes tightly at last!

They're all on the to-do list! Particularly like the TT pedals, but I can see it being the last out those three lol!

Yeah the came came with it as standard, although the steering wheel controls no longer work due to aftermarket HU but they were a little temperamental anyways!

aerial's makes a quite a big improvement for so little money.

Definitely lost a lot of signal strength though, not really an issue however.

what about changing the rear number plate bulb too a LED one?

Very tempted to have a go at fashioning one of my own LED circuits to run in the standard bracket rather than pay the £9! I've got access to plenty of resistors, circuitry and LEDs!
