225 cupra r intermittent starting problem

My seat leon 2003 cupra r has an intermittent starting problem. It turns without firing up. Sometimes it strikes up straight away sometimes not. Any help would be appreciated.

Starter motor on it's way out? You checked the plugs n coils?

It really turns over well just doesn't fire up and it can go a few days without doing it. Exhaust gives the odd bang while its trying too. Which would I be best checking first. Thanks

Had this few months ago, was the camshaft sensor. Is it storing any codes?

Battery is another contender. If it's at the end of life it'll work but not have enough crank amps to turn the engine.

Thanks for all the help. I've ordered a cam shaft sensor. Is this something I can fit myself or a mechanic job.

Easy job, move the cam belt cover out of the way, it’s right there at the front, two bolts and a connector

Just fitted a new cam shaft sensor and it's running great again.
