2010 1.6 diesel 7 speed dsg, 87000 miles.

I hope this isn't going to be expensive...

Got home this afternoon to find the gear indicator flashing. It flashes in all positions. There are no other warning lights, or beeps and no clunky changes that I've noticed and there are no codes showing.

When I started the car again, a couple of hours later, there was nothing wrong until it had been idling for 5 to 10 minutes, then the flashing returned. I switched off then fired up again. No flashing until about 10 minutes later, when it started again.

I need the car more than usual, as I'm taking my mum to hospital for intensive treatment.

Fingers crossed.

Do a search on DSG and mechatronics - problem is usually in the mechatronics unit which can be rebuilt/repaired by specialists (Google it) but removal etc is not a 5 minute job. Classic issue of OK when cold but when warm the hydraulic valves give up - mine went at 85000 miles on a 2.0 TFSi a few years ago. Drove it near to the dealer, went next day it drove fine the few yards required.......

Thanks for that.

I've found a few places to call within 15 to 20 miles (I'm in Leigh, near Bolton). Looks like my wallet will just get a flesh wound. Phew!
