ABS pump modulator fault

SEAT Leon 1.4 TFSi petrol 2008 (58 plate)
Based in Brighton

The modulator and pump have stopped working. Seat have said a new system is needed at a cost of £1250. This is not far off the value of the car.

I have taken to a local garage and the modulator has been sent off to be fixed. They are unable to fix this and returned the part. No explanation why.

The garage are trying to source a second hand part which is a challenge to match up the correct product number. He is hoping it will not need programing if we do find the correct part. I have since been told that SEAT dealers only have the software to program the second hand system in if needed. Is this the case? Are there specialists elsewhere that can do this cheaper?

The car has been serviced and well looked after and i would not want to see it go for breaking.

Can anyone help?

James sorry I cant help you with this but if you re post in the MK2 Leon section you may get a better response.

FYI I know that on the MK3 there is some coding that can be done to the ABS System using VCDS / OBD11 However I do not know if this is of any help to your problem because I have no knowledge of the setup of these modules. Hopefully somebody on the MK2 Section will be able to help

Should be able to code a new pump in with VCDS, where was the modulator sent for refurbishment?

I had a pump rebuilt for a Suzuki a while back, used this company http://www.ecutesting.com/abs_pumps_modules.html
Thanks for the advice. I am not sure of the company as independent garage sent it. They are bases in colchester.
I have spoken with ECU testing and it is not a serial number they are familar with. I will have the part sent over if we have do not have any other option. Thanks
