    Right.
Dark grey 57 plate 2.0 tfsi fr.

I want it to 'pop' a bit more.

    So far options are:
    - Carbon vinyl (paint too dark?)
    - respraying highlight parts lighter colors
    - kits. Rather not
    - lights

Any tips/hints/ideas? Particularly for this paint colour. The dark grey just seems to make things harder

    Cheers!

    What's "pop" ? :p

Got a pic? Betting a hardcore detail would make it look the shizzle ;)

Having the same dilemma. Looking at vinyl wrapping some bits and still deciding on gloss black, glossy carbon black or carbon anthracite.

You can get allsorts of different finishes now such as brushed steel, aluminium etc. Not sure how they'd look on the car though.
Can see the available styles in the link below.

I have dark gray and have added carbon film. I think the carbon really goes well with the colour.
Also if you want to something to pop, get your alloys done really bright, I have just refurbed mine and look great against the dark gray. Pics on my sig.

Can you get this wrap off when/if you want?

Hmm. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that I couldn't afford to buy 4 new wheels....
Would painting be doable? Is there any place particularly good at refurbishing and spraying wheels?

Pics coming tomorrow, it's dark now.
It's just a bog standard FR really on 17s.

Also, has the light-grey wing mirror covers. Reckon brushed steel would do the required 'poppage'?

Pop = stick out. Be a bit less dull and grey. Maybe even hint at the 2l turbo under the bonnet. While it's no R8, it's still a good bit of power that needs to be flaunted

The film is easy to remove if you change your mind. I would get the 18" wheels if you only have 17's.

Would love to get the 18s but have a wife and kids to think of. Apparently the ride is really rough as a passenger  Granted we have a family car...so there's a point to be made

@ rik_t: Do you have detailed steps on how you sprayed your wheels? What paint etc. Or if you're not too far...where you had them done?

This is the current wheel setup.
Could do with lowering, but I do like the actual wheels.
    Spray light grey like rik_t?

Are 18s truly not less comfortable? Does this depend on the suspension I put on?

Isn't it? Granted the flash reflecting off the inside wheel arches making it seem waaay more dramatic than it is.

    Does lowering affect insurance?

So as far as making the car look better so far:
    - vinyl mirrors and possibly roof
    - lower car or get 18s
    - respray wheels (color). I'm thinking a green/grey

Definitely needs bigger wheels. Hubs and calipers need painting too - easy mod!

Lower car and get 18s! Sorry but I really hate those wheels, they completely ruin the FR for me.

How do we feel about these gloss black parts on the dark grey FR?

I would do this along with a gloss black vinyl on roof

Post 6. Will give you an idea of how gloss black looks against grey (Track Grey).

Looks like I can convince the wifey to let me drop it 30 or 35mm.

Any idea of a good kit that isn't too hard of a ride? This is key, as the stock FR suspension is already quite rough! Is 400gbp realistic for a decent drop kit?

Any experiences? Do's donts? Tips? Deals?

    Cheers!!

Ps...forgot about the f-ing eBay deal on those gloss black cupra grill and wing mirror bits. So missed out on those! Well gutted
