hi just curious about my air box on my 1.8 turbo Toledo 2003.

I recently killed my 1.8 t cupra so bought something similar but different if you get me.

went to fit a new air filter and the Toledo has a alien part (to me anyway)

the air filter has a hose coming out the bottom left of it that runs down under the front of the block to something I cant see.

any idea what this is???

I haven't done anything to the car just left it until I know what I'm taking apart??

thanks

That runs down to the secondary air injection pump ,
When car is started from cold it pumps warm air from the engine in to the airbox to speed up engine warm up to help prevent damage to the catalytic converter

I've removed and deleted mine as waste of time , was more for the American market to get emissions down slightly I believe

To remove it search SAI removal , will involve resistors and eventually mapping out to clear EML , if it's not faulty leave it possibly ?
