Alhambra 2.0 Petrol Cambelt Change

Hi.

I've recently bought a Seat Alhambra (2.0 Petrol 1997). There was not a service history with the car and so I am planning to do the cambelt and tensioner along with the waterpump(very noisy) to be on the safe side.

I have changed several cambelts in the past, and the crank pulley bolts have always been normal hex bolts, however this one seems to be a star shape bolt.

Can anyone tell me what specific type of socket I need and what size? The engine is the ADY version I believe.

Many thanks,
Regards, Tim.

Hi, If its the centre bolt then it is a 19mm 12point socket, but you do not need to remove this to change belt, its the four 6mm allen key bolts that need to be removed.

Just removed the crank pulley on my 1.9 diesel. Apparently it is bad news (timing wise) if you remove the centre bolt. Was a 2 man job as one person needs to stand with a screw driver to prevent the pulley spinning whilst trying to undo the 6mm bolts.

Yeah no need to remove the gear, but it is keywayed so will only go back on in the same place.
