hi all. first of all im just wondering if anybody can help me with my problems. i no nothing about this engine in the slightest so im hoping someone can help. right...... first off i am tryin to locate the fuse or relay for my secondary air injection pump, its not working and making my car run like turd. but it hasnt blown because when i connect 12v to it it runs. second of all i need to no if there is supposed to be a cap or bung of any sort on the top of the gearbox as i have a circle where u can just see the flywheel spinning away . and last of all i have a knicking noise when u rev the engine when stationary but when you dip the clutch the noise goes. is this the clutch release bearing or the input shaft bearing??? any help would be very very appreciated as i really need my car working asap. p.s. i took the car to a garage and got told that i had a misfire on cylinder 3 and that i needed a complete engine strip and it would costme just over a grand but im not beleiving that in the slightest...... cheers nick.... sorry forgot to mention its a mk2 2000 alhambra 1.8 20v turbo.

The plug you need for the gearbox flywheel inspection hole is part number 02M 301 115 B, cost is a couple of quid from the dealers.

After that I'm afraid I know nowt about petrol engines.

Get vagcom on it and establish why it has a misfire on 3, .
also swapp the coil packs around and see if the misfire moves . if so its likely to be a coil pack at fault.
