based on the Altea XL, this prototype is called the Freetrack and is a jacked up cross over style vehicle. Keep an eye on SCN throughout Tuesday as the rest of the concept is revealed.

Thats fugly! Talk about jumping on the crappy 'crossover' bandwagon. Its such a crap thing to do. Don't think anybody here wanted something like that!

I saw that on the geneva feeder page last night, and though yea okay so what is the big one that they will reveal later..... Hmmmm don't think I like it at this stage.. Way to much crome effect on the back end, and sills ....

Mork, yeah your right who have they been talking to - customers wanting something like this.... Hmmm nah.... How many Renault 4x4 mini suv's do we see, thats the only competition I see at the mo....

A 2 litre petrol 4wd weighing at least a tonne and a half...
'empathises with it's environment'

is it trying to be an everyman Cayenne?

If they put an auto or DSG in it my (soon to be) mother in law would have one to drive a mile to waitrose and back in.

So what's the his and her's thing then?

Are we getting something else tomorrow?

Scott

When we discussed this with SEAT UK press, they were a bit confused. Seems its something the Spanish press department came up with.

Apparently they were only launching one new car today. And Wednesday is the only day Shakira could get free to attend to big up her Cupra.

The his and hers thing still confuses me. Maybe it is going to be the SUV Seat Gubbins for him?

...but just done in Shakira purple for her?

Do I get a prize?

On a serious note I guess that although it's in line with the 'sporty' image I'm not sure what kind of shelf life this is going to have. The rear looks like a cross between the XL and an X5.

Hopefully the saloon will be next out of the bag then.

So there's no sniffs of a Tango or a Cupra 4 to bring some of the old UK faithfuls back in to the brand.

We're not all spawning brats with gay abandon and some of us may actually fancy something in line with SEAT's sporting pretentions.

Please SEAT, there's 3 years until I change cars again and I would love to have another S on the nose if you can pull something out of the bag.

Hmmm will know in 2 days time I guess. Dont like the Altea Freetrack prototype, just looks like an Altea thats been hit by a freelander !!

Eeeeek I didnt think they would announce 'that' as the 'thing' we were all eagerly awaiting. :( Oh dear. I feel so deflated, like the year I got the Dandy for christmas and my brother got the Beano.

A concept-car that previews the street model

This morning, SEAT President Erich Schmitt has unveiled the latest creation of the Spanish carmaker in Geneva – the Altea Freetrack Prototype – a sneak preview of SEAT’s first SUV, which will soon be seen both on-road and off.

yer a 4x4
why not build something that isn't as common as muck for a change something like the tango would be lovely to be up against the mx5 or s2000, which could fill the gap from the now defunct mg rover group????????????

finally found a pic of what I think it reminds me of

I would much have preferred a sports tourer saloon or the Ibiza replacement or the 2007 tango

hardly the sports model?

Unless they're going to do paris-dakar in it or something?

I can't believe they think there's a segment for a car like that? and moreover anyone who'll buy it

even with a PD170 & 4WD I can't see that having change from 20k (probably a lot more)
