Bobby,it includes foam soundproofing as well, probably does not make a big difference to the decibel level but I wanted it more for the aesthetics. It cost £79.90 inclusive of VAT.I will try to get my son to post a picture when he comes home from school,he is more computer literate than I am !!
Cheers.

Cheers for doing that, yes it certainly looks better - finishes it off nicely?
You mention in your post that you had to take some clips off another car to fit it, does this mean that if I had to buy the cover then I still physically wouldn't be able to fit it without, ahem, obtaining more clips?

Bobby, yes,it fastens on at 4 points.I don,t know the technical description of the fastenings but the 2 at the front of the engine bay and the upper right hand one are all the same, they are about 4 cms high and screw in to top of engine and have like a ball on top that the engine cover pops down on to. ie.push fit.The rear left top one is basically a bolt or screw with a rubber collar and the engine cover slides under it.(your car may already have one or more of these)I can't imagine that they would cost much. The 2 at front of engine screw into a plastic type moulding,it had holes pre drilled but they had no threads and we had to use a 6ml tap.Only took about 10 mins to complete.Strangely we looked under the bonnets of about 6 cars, some had no fasteners at all whilst some had one fastener-can't understand why if Seat do all this as a cost saving exercise they still have spare fasteners on some cars doing nothing!Hope this helps.

Thanks for that information, will try getting some quotes from local dealers. Just not sure if I can justify the cost to myself, never mind her indoors!

Can you convince me its quieter?????

Dealer reckons it makes it quieter,if it does I would say only 1 or 2 decibels-if you were merely buying the cover to quieten the engine I wouldn't bother.I just wanted it to make the engine bay look completed.

I have a Special Edition too and it came without an engine cover. When I asked the dealer he said the engine covers dont fit as they restrict the bonnet from closing. He said he has lost count of the number of requests he has had. However, I dont understand as early Alteas had engine covers fitted as standard, and they havnt changed the engine or bonnet design since.

My 2.0 TDi is also noisy, I thought it was just me!
