Annoying rattle from boot

Hi
New to the forum. I've recently changed my car from a MKIV 1.8T to a Leon Cupra 20VT. Great car but there is an annoying rattle from the boot area. There's nothing in the boot except the spare wheel and accessories.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Clear the boot totally and go for a test drive. Also check your rear seats. Common creak and rattles come from the bars that lock them into place. Open the handle used to push the seat forward and underneath is bars that connect to the seat locking mechanisim. Wrap these bars in electrical tape neatly to reduce any play when closed. Check the boot trim is secure.

I had this too. I taped up the rear seat locking bar, same as r6 allan said also put some tape round the bar that the boot locks on. I did read about someone who took the lock apart and glued a part which had come loose? but i couldnt work out how to get it apart. Oh and also taped round the 2 pins on the parcel shelf. Seems to be ok now!

yeh ive got a rattle when you open the boot, sounds like something rolling down the inside of the boot panel, and then the other way after i have closed it (only its quieter then with the boot closed lol)

If it's a slight metallic rattle (like something loose in the spare wheel tool tray) it will be the lock mech attached to the boot release handle (seat badge) mine did it when i first got it. there's a thin metal rod that runs from the back of the handle to the lock mechanism, it's threaded so you can adjust the amount of travel the handle needs to open the lock. Unfortunately you need to remove the plastic boot lid cover to get to it which usually means snapping a few clips. all you have to do is wind the rod round until it takes up a bit of tension and voila.

How do you remove the boot lid? i had a look but not sure if i just need to give it a good pull or is there screws and things that need to come out?

The problem was exactly as Sheffboy explained, the boot mechanism.
You have to remove the screws in the boot handles then give the trim a good yank and it should come away. then simply wind the mechanism in.

I broke 2 clips on my trim btw but bodged it and put it back on. A new trim from the dealers, well the one in Letchworth is about £45.00

Yes that is the right bar. Just ensure there is no play but your locking mechanism/handle works fine before you put the trim back on. It is pain to keep removing
