When i bought the car ( late 02 tdi ) it came with the two spare keys only, and i had to use the key in the drivers door to lock and unlock the car, this didnt bother me at all until the lock in the doors seemed to seize, the boot lock is still fine but the doors wont lock. Please someone tell me this is going to be a cheap and easy fix?

This is going to be a cheap and easy fix :D

Get your WD 40 out and get spraying, it's either that or new locks

Normally it is the door mechanism at fault, and you have to strip the doors. But if it's the key itself that's not working, then I agree with seatmann, get the WD40 on the lock barrels.

Sprayed the Lock with WD40 and let it sit, used the key and the door locked no problem, BUT it will not open! The key will turn the lock but it isn't actually unlocking the car. On top of this the reader coil fault is back again, If it weren't for bad luck i'd have none at all!
