I have 7.5 width alloys and they fit perfectly without rubbing etc with 205/4017 toyos. But the kerb is trashing my alloys well other way round.

Wodering whether 215 would be better, in another seat forum someone has 21545 17 but have no picture to see if it looks stupid

the difference between 205/40/17 and 215/40/17 is 1.34%

so at 70 the speedo reads 70.94

but the difference between standard 195/45/16 and 215/40/17 is 3.76%

so at 70 the speedo reads 72.63

Not much difference really tbh

Brendy we're on an Ibiza forum here! 225 45 17 will be way way out for a Beezer.
215 35 17s will offer the right gearing and a bit of protection. Have a look at some tyres too as some have rounded shoulders on the tread that won't help with kerb protection, and some have little rubber lips to protect the rims which is recommended.

you may also want to check which of these tyres are cheapest, the more common the cheaper the tyre will be

personally i would stick to 205's as surely road noise will increase with wider cross section??

beezer (pfft knew that!), speedos will be reading over anyway so another 2mph wont matter, 225's will give you a huge choice as its a more common size and maybe cheaper too. im running 4 eagle f1's at 100 a corner fitted, out of interest how much are you lot paying for the thinner profile?

thats 35 notes for cheap sh*t tyres,

whats the point in buying cheap tyres? buy the best tyres you can afford and if you can't afford them, get smaller wheels!!!

Goodyear eagle F1's are £87.40 each for 205/40/17 and £93.10 for 215/40/17

not exactly a big difference
