Need to know wagwan... :(

Broke as sh1t so can't take it to garage

Little video of the tinny noise. It's loudest at the front of the engine. Can't make up my mind whether it's loudest near the alternator or near HPFP.

Anybody familiar with this sound?

Also..I gripped the thingy next to the alternator (the camera's pointed at it for a while because it was shaking weirdly) and it felt like something wasn't turning smoothly.

i have the exact same noise on my petrol FR.. recently had the cambelt changed as well so dont think its related to that

i took it to the garage that did the cambelt and they said its probably the alternator bearing (the thing in the centre of the frame during the beginning of the video)

these engines make all sorts of weird noises.. clicking from the injectors, strange tin-y rattling, an almost diesel-like idle

anyway i doubt its something major.. my rattle comes and goes, ive noticed its worst when climbing a steep hill at low revs

Slightly reassuring, cheers v0id! But still not too keen on that check engine light :)

id offer to do a fault code scan but you're a bit too far - im sure another member with vagcom would be willing to do it

its defo worth getting the cable for 15-20 quid, saves you a trip to the dealers everytime the light comes on

Indeed. I had one but gave it away ages ago as I planned to get an official pack from Rostec.
Then my broke-ass-ness took on a persistent state.

I don't like fiddling with "warez". I just want it to all work, with support if needed.

Anybody else in north east with vagcom?
