Apple Car Play

Has anyone had any issues with Apple play?
I hooked iphone 7 up to the car no problems to one of the (2) usb sockets but sometimes it refuses to connect when I get back in and only solution seems to be to unplug phone from one socket and connect it to the other socket ! - weird IMO. I have tested 2 cables and same issue with both of them.

I too have an iphone 7 and from what i experience with hooking the phone up to my computer to save pictures, it seems one of the updates a few months back means if the phone is locked it wont allow any connections to be made to the computer and my cars apple car play, so every time before connecting the cable I start the car, unlock the phone then connected and it never has a problem.
