Ok my younger 17yr old brother is after a seat arosa as his first car, now from what i can see there is 2 phases to them so far?

What are the main differences between the two? is it just the front end thats been changed or has the rear aswell. As for some reason my brother has an obsession with the rear lights on the new phase, in my opinion they look gash and look a bit to much like lexarse lights.

Also any tips on what to look out for, ill proberly be heading with him to view them.

Thanks guys

Russ

wheel bearings (as any VAG car) seam rust, accident damage (low insurance groups ragged by kids)

wheel alignment (banged into kerbs by grannies)

Excellent thanks mork, just the usual checks to run over with it then. Doesnt seem that there are to many arosa owners on here. Been having a search and cant find much info about them.

Main difference is the front and rear - dash in the original is a mk3 polo one, whereas the updated arosa has a mk4 polo/lupo dash but with round vent/cowls.

Also early mk2 arosas have a light grey bottom half of the dash and door panels whereas 51reg on (ish) have all black interiors.

other differences are the choice of engines (new version has a TDi option). I've had a 1.0 which was great fun for that size of engine. currently on a 1.4tdi which I love, it's very nippy all the way up to 60 and never really drops below about 50-55mpg.

The rear lights are a matter of taste, they look a lot better on darker coloured cars, but as mentioned about you can swap for mk1 or lupo lights if you want.
