gropper grease is not really any good, the shim is required to stop the brakes from moving in the capiler when at low speeds.

I applied lotws of copper crease when I changed to the galfer pads but the were useless compared to the brembo pads.

well i guess my galfer 1045 pads were thicker than yours or my brembos are thinner?!

only joking! ;)

i always use a bit of copper grease on the back of new pads, and i have had no squeeks from my 1045 galfer pads in over 10k and one trackday! :)

Its a balance of buy cheap buy twice, and the severity of usage, which is people dependant.

Some people get 20k miles out of their oe kit, some manage less than 10k, so I bet those with the lesser type milage would be using theirs harder, and cheaper (at face value) parts would not last as long as OE even.

I had my 1st pad change at about 11k. I had OE pads fitted, as I was desperate - Saturday morning, pads worn to backing plates & was off on a 200 mile round trip! My local Seat specialist had a set in stock and could fit them in between services :D (better than a 2 month wait at a main dealer!)

Anyway, at 18k new pads & discs needed. Wanted something a little stronger than the OE set up, so went for the "tried & tested" set up - Brembo grooved discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads & Motul fluid.

Bill fitted them for me coz I'm lazy and I might break a nail or sommat! :p

Been a bit sensible up until the last couple of days. Taken it easy & bedded them in for about 350 miles. Just "tested" them on a quiet bit of road and I have to agree with peoples comments - they're bloody awesome!! :funk:

One thing though... are they supposed to smoke?

The smoke will be the ani rust coating burning off due to large pushing of the slow pedal, tried getting it off my discs with some spirit when they were put on but they still smoked for a bit.

lol, well tested then.
If ds2500's can put up with this>

then I think they're pretty well sorted.

Badger Grooved disks, motul RBF600 fluid, and DS2500 ferodo's on board.
pukka job

Are the EBC pads leaving groves on the disc as per Galfer 1045 Pads?

Also do the ref stuff pads have the shims on the back of the pad? I saw a picture on this site that they did but wanted to double check.

Also whats the wear like?

they looked like drilled plain disks, not brembo drilled disks which come plated with radius chamfers on the holes.

hope they dont crack on you.

Just a quick update to say they are still working fine, no problems at all from them although it is still early days for them, there coming up on 2000 miles.

There's no F in Quality..
fitted the brakes on Saturday, took me just under 2 hours.

would have been alot quicker if the person who's fitted the aluminium spacers had used copper grease on them.... they hadn't, and the spacers had corroded to the disc! Consequently I had to spend ages trying to remove the spacers before I could get the old discs off !!

first impressions of the discs is that they look well made.

will give some more feedback in a week or so when I've bedded them in.....
