Why do you think you have bent a rod?

If you check the thread 'what's this noise' you can here for yourself. the full stories on thread 'Water ingestion'

I went through a massive puddle (more like a river) last weekend, changed the oil and filter, dried air filter and MAF, changed plugs and checked coils.

bent rods tend to gouge the bore of the engine.

quicker (therefore cheaper) to swap the engine.

Using basic tools, brute force & ignorance I swapped an engine in a day. that's less time than a garage will charge to whip the head off & tell you it's buggered.

You could probably pick up an engine without ancillaries for £500, then swap it over.

If you can't DIY, find a reliable back street place that will do it for £40/hr

Nice one, i have the garage picking it up Monday because i'm not 100% what the problem is - if it is dead then i guess it's new engine time.

Any clues where i would get a 2nd hand engine? i'm guessing it's not easy to find a good example? i don't want to end up with a sh** engine... if only i had a clue:D

i swapped my engine in my car myself m8 i got no experience what so ever with this stuff only changed the oil myself b4 and that was it, it took me 3 weekends to get the engine out fit new turbo manifold d/p get new1 in and get it runnin all on 4 hour days as i was outside my house in a car park doin it at winter! and it would have been much easier had i not fitted bigger turbo etc ! my advce would be as long as your changin 1 thing in2 another without tuning it up you should not have a problem at the end of the day if you fail at doin it yourself you pay some1

He means that you could have the Leon Cupra/Octavia vRS/Golf Ed 30 180bhp engine fitted.

WHERE WOULD I EVEN START LOOKING FOR THIS KIND OF THING? WOULD BE GOOD TO UPGRADE TO 180bhP!! HAD NO IDEA THE LEON ENGINE WOULD FIT?.. I HAVE ALOT TO LEARN.. CLEARLY!

I beleive it would fit. You'd need to swap inlet manifolds, and I don't know what else. I've just realised that Dazza said he had an AUM fitted, which is a 150 Golf engine, not a 180 leon (AUQ).

Obviously you'd need the turbo as well, whereas you could save a bit of dosh if your turbo's okay and you can find a ibiza

try motors in motion 01909531537, they're in worksop but will deliver on a pallet (£50?)

Edit: I mean, try motors in motion for an engine, they won't know will fit what.
