Hi guys, After becoming a member to this forum and using it to search for common faults, and a buyers check list I thought it was only fair to start a progress blog and share with you the car I bought and my progress throughout ownership.

2004 Cupra R ebony black, 84000 miles.

I plan to keep it as standard as possible and go for the a spotless showroom look, so my plans are to do a full detail, wheels refurbished, brakes re painted, full set of decent tyres. after all i am nearly 30, but it wont be long before its booked in for tuning mods, after reading some threads on here its so tempting! i will post a few pics to get things going and do some before and afters as soon as they are done.

cant upload the pics yet as photobucket is undergoing some maintenance

Disaster today, fitted both left and right wishbones after changing both drop links and ARB bushes and still knocks and drives like crap.. so came on here to find out more and turns out I have fitted the wrong ones.. supplied to me by the local motor spares shop... So bad day and a massive waste of time in the snow this aft.. I will be fitting new bushes and ball joints to my old cast ones as I learned from reading post on here, found the parts on Euro car parts will these be okay once fitted to the correct cast wishbone?

So I managed to get my 15 posts in so I was able to upload some pictures, these are just the before pictures as I haven't had a decent day to paint them yet, you can see the perished rubbers on the wishbones and were desperate for change.. but sadly the ones supplied were wrong, I will post more progress tomorrow if I can get some parts

clearly the Brembo's are feeling sorry for there self, I will be going red as standard but look so much better when they have fresh paint on!

Also investigated the knock I had over uneven road seems I had found the culprit!!

Made some more progress today, managed to get the brakes painted just waiting for them to dry then I can apply the new brembo stickers, should look decent once 100% done.. nice bright red colour which I am very pleased with!

Wishbones are also off waiting for new ones being delivered tomorrow hopefully should all be bolted back up and drivable! Just a few pics from today's events...

Looking good buddy, need to do mine soon as they're looking particularly sorry for themselves.

Did you manage to get rid of the knocking from the wishbones? I recently did a full set of bushes etc as there was a knocking from the front end and they were all split/worn, but it actually turned out to be the bolts themselves that were to blame. (They're stretch bolts so should really be replaced rather than reused, hence the knocking!)

No loss as I was upgrading bushes anyway but just in case the bushes themselves don't sort your issue out that'd be my next port of call

thanks for the advice rainbird! fitted the new wishbones today and all seems well up to now and feels a lot firmer at the front end too which im happy about. there could be a tiny bit of noise still apparent but that's me being fussy, I may just replace those bolts as you said just to be certain... main dealers for them I suspect?
Anyhow more pictures from todays progress, hope you guys like :) wheels should be getting done next but im not sure what colour to go, I really do like the bright slver as it makes these cars look so fresh!

Another of the brakes with sticker...

cheers guys.

Good work so far. FYI try sere motors for genuine parts who have a section on this forum. You may be surprised how reasonable prices are and dave goes out of his way to be helpful.

Have to admit, I need to do my wheels at some point and am stuck between going OEM which will make it look fresh or go a little darker which would make it look a bit meaner.

Yeah I ordered them through my local VW dealer as I was working down the road that week, though you may as well just go direct to TPS as that's where they got them from.

Dug out the old email:
"The bolts you are after have been superseded and are now as follows

N10262202 £3.86 each
N0150816 £1.48 each
N90484004 £2.68each

They would requiring ordering and payment to order at a total cost of £16.06"

That was August last year so prices should be roughly the same I'd expect. The part numbers I originally gave were some I'd found on an old forum thread, so don't worry about the "superseded" comment, the numbers above are the ones you want :)

thanks a lot for the information I will try a search and see what I can buy off them, yes I wish I could see a progress blog on here for which show both colours, find darker wheels only look good on lowered cars though, its a hard one!

thanks a lot mate for going to the effort of digging those out, I have saved these on my phone and will get ordered asap.

yes get the pics up so I can see them, I really am stuck between the two!
My ibiza cupra r needs the brakes done also, 02 plate so fairly old and worn looking now lol

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

yes get them done I used AUDI MARS RED, just a cheap can from the local motor shop, nice and bright, I didn't lacquer them tho so hopefully shouldn't fade. doesn't take long and results are so rewarding!
