Oh believe me Lawrie I'd love to, but having been driving all of about 3 months I reckon the insurance companies would just laugh at me. I do plan to lower it, 50mm Spax springs like ScottH has would be awesome, but I'm going to wait until I've got a years NCB (hopefully April 2011).

In other news I've bought red hammerite for the front calipers and black hammerite for the rear drums. :)

[B)]

The car's been misbehaving lately, I've decided the car is definitely female.

Had to remove all the seats (except the driver's) and passenger side door card as the passenger side footwells were soaked in water, it looks to me like the leak was coming from a blockage under the scuttle panel and was leaking through the bulk head. Cleared the blockage, siliconed the bung back in place, drove around for days with the windows open and now it seems to be okay.

BUT NOW it seems the drivers door lock microswitch has broken, as the interior light doesn't work when you open the driver's door. It also re-locks itself despite you opening the driver's door. I'm going to do a DIY repair using a microswitch ordered from RS Components; I'm not shelling on £80 for a bloody new lock!

And to top it all off I tried getting the airbag off the steering wheel to see if it is made by TRW so I can get a posh replacement one, only for the damn thing to not come off.

i like the subtle mods like chrome air vents.
:)

any more plans?
Thanks Stephen! Unfortunately due to being in my first year of driving I have to keep the mods subtle.

Plans at the moment are to fix it's problems. I've got a new microswitch to fit on the driver's door lock, then I need to fix the water leak as it has returned.

Also I have a stubby aerial from a 10 reg Polo on the way which I'll need to fit. 2min job. :)

Next mods are in no particular order:
- red and black leather steering wheel (if the original is a TRW, otherwise they won't fit properly)
- calipers red with white SEAT decals
- drums in black, possibly with similar decals
- alloy wheel refurb in anthracite
- alloy pedals
- colour coded door mirrors and handles
- HID kit and LED sidelights
- FR front grilles (all 5)

I already have fog lights to fit, it's just getting round to doing it that's difficult. :(

Thanks mate. I was like you, had a car (for a while!) and hadn't passed my test. Mods had already began before I passed. :cartman:

When I did finally take my test, I passed first time.

I was going to fit a Fabia VRS exhaust, but the one I was after got snapped up by someone else. :(

my drivers door lock does that not all the time theo.make sure you dont unlock your car and throw your keys on the seat as when you shut the door it locks its self i found that out.Try some WD40 that frees it of for a bit.

Thanks for the tip Adam. I've changed the microswitch which fixed it at first, but now it's doing it intermittently.

I came out to my car after a few hours in work yesterday, saw the sidelights on, thought "oh ****". Got in it, thankfully it started (albeit a bit lazily). It wouldn't have happened if the door lock wasn't faulty, as the buzzer doesn't work when the switch doesn't.

I hate cars sometimes. [:@]

And nobody can resist a bit of pikey lowering

Rubbish pictures off my BlackBerry unfortunately, can just make out the new Polo aerial though!

There is some heavier stuff underneath all that cardboard...

Looking good, dude! Where'd you get the chrome handbrake button?
Cheers buddy! I bought a used Leon Cupra handbrake from the scrappies, then when I got home I took it apart. The chrome button actually just clips off (needs a good tug though). The chrome button just clips off the old one too (use of a flat blade required), just push the new one on and bob's your mother's brother.

I'm going to refurb the alloys myself.

I have 2 of the S stickers spare. ;)

I bought the stickers from a bloke selling on eBay. They come as a set of 10 (all different styles, you get 4 of the S stickers for the mirrors) brake caliper stickers. I'm going to paint the calipers red, then apply the sticker over the paint.

Handbrake cost £15, Dave.

The buttons are interchangeable, so I'm now going to attempt to sell on the remainder of the handbrake, complete now with a black button. Hopingly somebody will buy it!
