So I blew my turbo on the weekend, bought the car 2 months ago as is and the previous owner said it had the standard garret on it which I don't think it does, the car is mapped too 185hp n 300lbft torque, egr delete, straight through, intercooler, new clutch kit. Just need to see what options I have, wouldn't mind getting a little bit more power out of it but nothing too crazy but could do with not breaking the bank, thoughts?

Is the turbo hotside cast into the exhaust manifold? I have a 130pd in my sharan, but you can't see much with the the way the windscreen overhangs the engine bay.
I guess you could fit the turbo (and manifold if needed) from a pd150/160 but as far as I can tell it isnt much of an upgrade. They remap to about 10 hp more than the 130!
I know darkside offer the newer generation garret gtb1756vk? which makes a lot more power. You might need to do injectors and clutch to get the best from it. Possibly headbolts too and a remap so isnt going to be cheap.
I think the 170 hp tdis use a newer generation gtb 1749vk? which I'm guessing may be a similar size to the older version in the 160 cupra r gt1749vb?, but should be capable of spooling up earlier if the redesign was effective? I dont think darkside offer this as it isnt much of an upgrade, but I find it an interesting idea, not sure how you would get it to fit? Maybe a conversion to vacuum vnt actuator and cut and reweld the air outlet to the intercooler?
